Canon Powershot S2IS

Have had problems with focus from first purchase.  Sent in immediately for fix @ geek squad.

Didn't really fix problem.  Recently resent two times, because repair center said it was working

fine.  Both geek squad member and myself see the problem, but it is not being fixed.  Camera is 2 years old.  Some pics are fine, others are too blurred to print.  Have shown and sent in samples to

Best Buy and Geek squad.  Also sent to Precision Repair, where supposedly the camera was

checked.  Have extended warranty and noticed a $95.00 + change that I didn't have to pay

but why is there a charge when supposedly the camera is "fine"  Has anyone else had this problem?

Geek Squad member is also frustrated and suggested I blog this issue.  It is no fun to have a camera that only works when it wants too.  My camera was keep for over 6 weeks with the two times being sent in....finally just went to pick it up so I can a least TRY to get some Christmas pics.  Any help out there?  THanKs!

Re: Canon Powershot S2IS

Hey mammabear30,

I would be very frustrating to Have to send your camera out two times to get repaired, and to then have it sent back still not working as you expect it to. When a camera is sent to the repair center to get fixed a technician should diagnose what is needed to repair it, and order any parts that are necessary. Once the parts are installed, and the camera is determined to be functioning properly, the camera should be shipped back to the store it was dropped off at. Occasionally the camera is looked at by a technician, and they determine there is nothing wrong with the camera. This is most often the case when the problem is intermittent and the camera functions fine when the technician looks at it. Digital cameras are complicated devices and it is easy to accidentally change a setting, or to use the camera in a way that doesn’t produce the desired results, and sometimes the user mistakes unsatisfactory images with the camera being broken. The $95 charge is most likely what the service center is charging for their diagnostic fee, which if your camera is covered by a warranty you would not be responsible to pay. I would like to see if I can get you resolution in this so I am sending you a private message, and to check your messages log into the forum and click the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
