Broken TV since December 7th

Well from reading all the postings it seems everybody has the same problem from Geek Squad....I bought a 50" Sony Plasma in 2005 and had no issues until December 7th...As soon as the TV went out I called the 1800 number to get my TV fixed...never having to deal with any issues and getting nothing but top rated service in the store I expected the same from Geek Squad....My first appointment  was scheduled on December 24th...which was canceled that morning because the tech was sick...I called and had a new appointment on December 31st.....So having a month I spent some time researching the problem and found on the Sony website that it was the powersource...when the Tech came into my home he saw my TV and the first words where " I have never seen a Sony plasma, didn't know they made them..." right then and there I knew I was in trouble. I explained what I had found on the Sony website and his response was "GEEk SQUAD Techs have a special SONY website that is not available to the public and the info I got was probably incorrect..." so I let it go...the first week of January I get a call my parts are in and the soonest they could schedule me in was January 20th....they show up on the 20th replace five fans on the TV and supposedly checked the TV and it was in working order. I come home that night and the TV is still doing the same thing....I called right away and had another appointment for January 31st...the tech comes out and questions why fans where replaced in the first place...after a couple of hours he tells my wife what's wrong with the TV...and its the same thing I told the first tech on December 31....I was pissed....the tech was helpful and instructed us to call the next week to see if the parts had came in...which I did....I was tod on Feb 5, that the parts where in and I would have a tech on FEB 17th.....so here I am today Feb 17th no tech at my home to fix my TV....he is unavailable for the day...no call from him...I called again to see what happened and got an appointment for the 23rd..that's next week.....given my entire experience I am extremly disgusted with the whole ordeal...I spent  over 5000 dolars on that TV.....a lot of money. and to add salt to the wound...a friend of

mine bought the same TV from GOOD Guys....(they shut there doors 3 years ago) and his TV

fixed in a week for guess what the power supply.....another friend of mine bought an LCD from the electronics store that is closing its doors (I couldn't put its name down) and they are going under as you all know....his TV was fixed in 5 days....unbeleveable....I know next time I have to buy a high ticket item....I will look somewhere else before I go to Best Buy.....I read a lot of bad stories on here and instead of Best Buy showing commercials about getting somebodys TV put up right before game time.....they should be showing how good they take care of you after the TV breaks.....so ultimaltey we will see.....

Re: Broken TV since December 7th

Hey Lrod_29,

I’m sure not having a working TV since 12/7/2008 is extremely upsetting, and with two missed appointments thrown in I’m sure you are fed up with the repair of your TV by now; I will also say that this would be way too long to wait for my own TV to be repaired, and I’m sure you feel the same way. Although most of the time the diagnosis of what is wrong with a customer’s TV is accurate the first time, sometimes the parts that are installed don’t resolve the problem and new parts are then ordered. I would like to see what I can do about getting your TV repaired as soon as possible, and I am sending you a private message to get that process started. To check your messages you should make sure you are logged into the forum, and then click on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

Thanks for posting,
Allan
