I bought a Sony a300 camera last halloween and this past weekend my sisters dog came running and knocked it right off my neck and went flying right into the concrete steps leading up to the front door. I immediately tested to see if the camera still took pictures and thank god it does. The bad part is that the vibration function to clean the sensor every time you power on an off the camera is now broken and does not work properly. I was on vacation and took it to the nearest best buy in the area, they checked to see if I had a warranty (which i do, the four year PSP) and all they offered to do was to send it off for repairs.
my question is: Is there anyway the camera can be fully replaced? I've heard some stories that the camera can be replaced for the same camera, or even a better one with at least all the same features... I have a business to tend to which involves using my camera everyday and I can't wait the 14 days to send it off for repairs..

Hi there and welcome to the Community. My dog has destroyed a few of my electronics so I know a little of what you're going through. The unit would need to be sent to the service center to either be repaired or approved for replacement.

Hi davidf1,
I would be extremely upset if my DSLR was ever damaged, but unlike me you purchased a Geek Squad Black Tie Protection (GSBTP) plan along with camera. Your GSBTP plan does include Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) coverage so the damage should be covered, but unfortunately your GSBTP plan is not meant to replace your camera and it would need to be sent out for service from your local Best Buy® store.
Your GSBTP plan would replace your camera once you have had three previous qualifying repairs and there is a diagnosis that a fourth repair is needed, if we determine that the camera is un-repairable, or if we determine that the repair wouldn’t be cost effective to continue. A qualifying repair is when a non-consumable part is installed and due to that part installation the technician determines that your camera is functioning properly. I hope this helps!
Thanks for posting,
