Bestbuy warrenty problems

I had best buy come out on Sat on a call for a warranty issue on my Samsung LCD tv which I bought 3 years ago for 2,800.  I had 3 different problems that I thought could be fixed from they guy coming and seeing it.

The following are the problems

1. The speaker at certain sound frequencies rattles to the point that it sounds like Charlie brown’s parents.  It’s just “wah wah wah wah” noise.  This happens only in certain scenes and different times (Frequency: dependent on the sound frequency).  It has only recently cropped up in the last year or so.
Tech solution: Buy a surround sound, it’s the source.
    Result: Did nothing

2. The backlight bleeding is horrible, it has been getting worse through the 3 years.  It really ruins a dark scene / movie.
Tech solution: “I don’t see it”, “oh it’s just the angle”, “That’s how the screen ages”.
    Result: Did nothing

3. The TV when it was upstairs used to turn off after constant usage on hot days, this started happening 1-2 years ago.  It would take a couple of minutes to turn it back on.
Tech solution: “It’s in the basement now so you shouldn’t see it anymore”, “That’s the problem with these TV’s, there are absolutely no fans”
    Result: Did nothing.

At the time I just shook my head yes and thanked him for his time.  I sat around and talked to a couple of my friends and my wife and realized I just wasted several hours waiting for absolutely nothing to be done.  My TV speaker didn’t do this 3 years ago when I bought it, my TV didn’t have that back lighting problem when it was new, and it never shut off randomly when it was new.

I bought the service program thinking that I could have the same TV that I bought 3 years ago.  However I am being told that it’s only because it’s old or buy something else to make up for a broken piece.

I also bought a 55 inch LCD tv from best buy last Sunday… with this type of service I am thinking of returning it just so I can buy it from a place that  has good service and people that stand behind their warranties instead of chalking it up to age.

Re: Bestbuy warrenty problems

Hi magikcow,

I can certainly understand you expecting something to be done to resolve the problems with your TV when the technician was out to look at it on Saturday, and it seems to me that if the TV is turning off for no reason there is something wrong with it.

I did look into this and I show that your TV has now been approved for replacement by your Performance Service Plan (PSP), and that you have been contacted with the necessary information to get your replacement TV.

If you need any personal assistance from me in this matter just send me a private message by logging into the forum, clicking on my icon, and then clicking on the send this user a private message link.

Thanks for posting,
