Re: Best Buy's kick in the teeth

A renewal PSP would be just that - a renewal PSP. Renewing it would not get you the GSBTP plan. The terms would be identical to the current terms. The only difference would be that No Lemon coverage would not be provided.

Re: Best Buy's kick in the teeth

Wow ! You must be a corporate lawyer. It seems you know quite a bit about Contract law and Bestbuy's policies. Personaly I do not know if they would continue the same plan or fold all renewing contracts into their current policies. If Bestbuy maitains the existing contract, it would be just another example of their legal dept.'s cunning. If anything Plasma TV's have a life expectancy of 60,000 hrs before the phosphor begins to breakdown and loses luminosity. So they can replace it now or later. Come on, who out there really thinks that it it fair and ethical for my $3000.00 TV to fail after 3yrs. of normal use and having spent an additional $400.00 for a so called performance guarantee. We (consumers) pay extra for the piece of mind we are supposed to get from purchasing extended warranties, only to find that we have been duped once again. I would be willing to pay twice the price for a warranty that has no loopholes, and just simply covers the product.

Re: Best Buy's kick in the teeth

This sort of policy is the reason that people are skeptical about extended warranties. And it would seem they have good reason to. I can remember the salesman explaining how superior Bestbuy's warranty was to the manufaturer's, and unfortunatly I fell for it. The entire reason people buy warranties is so that when we use the products under normal conditions and they fail, we are covered. Where is the extended warranty to cover what the extended warranty dosen't cover. It seems that we need some type of secondary insuranace to cover what the primary dosen't. Caveat Emptor !

Re: Best Buy's kick in the teeth

An unfortunate update. About 2 yrs. ago when my TV was new I recommended it to friend, and even recommended Bestbuy's Performance plan. I just spoke to him about my situation, and found that he is experiencing the same dilema as I am. He puchased the same model Plasma and 4yr. Performance plan and has the same 4:3 vertical lines on his screeen and has been turned down by Bestbuy for repair. I apoligized to him for recommending a substandard product from a substandard retailer. It is common knowledge that a consumer that has a good experience will tell 2 to 3 other people whereas the consumer that has a poor experience will tell 9 to 11 people. I feel it is only fair that I convey my experience with Bestbuy to as many people as possible. I am still in a state of disbelief of the audacity of Bestbuy to offer protection for this defect to their new customers and deny it to their existing customers and soon to be non-existing customers. Caveat Emptor !
