Re: Best Buy Employees Misrepresented The Protection Plan!

Amazon warranties are provided by square trade and they take close to the same amount of time to diagnose, repair and ship out large items like TVs.

I agree that the terms of service and policy explanation is actually pretty straightforward and not legal jargon.

No matter what company you tell me to look up I can find countless reports of unhappy customers.

People quote consumer reports without really looking into it. Pull up the records and you will find that BBY is right in line with virtually every other company that sells large electronics (save apple) including Sony, Samsung, Walmart, target, GE, LG etc.

It's called "the grass is greener syndrome." When you have a problem with one business, you'll swear up and down with no true insight that another business is better. When you don't like your current job, you'll swear up and down with no true insight that any other job would be better. I love America.

Re: Best Buy Employees Misrepresented The Protection Plan!

Yeah right its that easy to cancel the plan! You spout that you can simply cancel within 30 days and then after you will get a prorated amount back. BS. Have you tried actually canceling the black tie???

Re: Best Buy Employees Misrepresented The Protection Plan!

I've seen multiple plans being canceled.  For any plan other than a monthly cell phone Black Tie plan, you walk into your local Best Buy with your ID and the receipt of the Black Tie purchase and go to the Customer Service desk.  When there, you ask for a refund and they'll input the information from the receipt and give you a refund for the pro-rated amount left on the plan.  It's as simple as that.  On a few very rare occasions, there may be issues, but those are not the norm.

Re: Best Buy Employees Misrepresented The Protection Plan!

I've never had the need to cancel a plan that I've purchased, but I have seen personally many plans that have been canceled.  I was right there when the plans were canceled and they all happened just as I stated earlier.

The Terms and Conditions, aka the "contract", is actually very easy to read and understand.  It isn't long and not complex at all.  It can easily be read in about 10 minutes and Best Buy has tried to make it as simple and easy to understand as possible.  For a copy of the Terms and Conditions, you can find it at this link.

Can be read in about 10min? Are you kidding!!!! I went to your link and read (not studied) but read MOST of it. (I skipped Section S). Timed myself. It took 41 min to read it. Again, NOT STUDIED, but just read. English is my first language. Was born here, went to college here. Hopefully others who read my post will go to the GSBTP link, read it and post back with the time it took them and their comments about it. Will study the plan further and post my insights. 10 min?......just like, according to you or another fanboy who posted it only takes 5 min to remove a big screen TV from its box, inspect it for physical damage, missing parts and plug it in to see if it actually works!! Incredible, just incredible!!

Actually, I revised my statement and said that if you wanted to plug it in to turn it on it would take a bit longer.  But honestly, how long does it take to simply pop out 4-6 plastic tabs, lift the cardboard cover off the TV (the cover separates from the base in which the TV sits), lower the plastic, and look at the outside of the TV to make sure that it doesn't have any cracks.  Then pull the plastic back up, sit the 2-3 foam pieces back on the corners and middle, and lower the cardboard cover back on popping the 4-6 plastic pieces back in.

You really do seem to be overthinking this.  I never meant for this quick inspection to be someone going over it with a microscope and hooking it up to a home theatre system, playing a full length movie, then channel surfing through to make sure everything works.  This quick inspection is just to make sure that there was no damage to the TV during shipping.

Of course am I gullible enough to believe that this will satiate you?  Absolutely not.  I realize that you aren't out for answers, just little points that will help you in your vendetta against Best Buy so, post away.  I mean, timing yourself just to correct me in how long it takes to read a pamphlet.  You're either OCD or grasping at straws.  Either way, it's beginning to get to be a bit pathetic, LOL.  But if you believe that posting here is the best medicine for what ails you, by all means go at it because I don't want to be responsible for withholding treatment
