I recently bought an Asus K60 from my local Best Buy and was very pleased with it.
Everything worked perfectly well. The screen was fine, the keyboard was fine, etc.
However, when I went to take the protective wrap off of the laptop, one of the laptop's "hinges (the two devices that allow the screen to move)" broke off.
The laptop still works fine, except there's a gaping hole where the hinge piece once was. I still have the hinge piece, of course.
My question to you all is, am I covered for this? My date of purchase was within the last few days, so whatever warranty I have is still fresh.

dude, its funny, i bough the same laptop the day after you posted this. 11/29. i had gotten it for my birthday, and when i was taking off the wrap, the same thing happened to me, RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY MOM! but hey, unless the thing like broke in half, its no sweat, it snaps back into place, and good as new, hakunamatata

Hi edwardxiaoo,
Awesome question! It’s troubling that the hinges have broken off with your new computer purchase while you were unwrapping it. I would certainly be concerned as well, so it’s understandable for you inquiring to the available options.
Your computer does include a 14-day return/exchange period and a one-year manufacturer’s warranty. However, your options will depend upon whether it is determined this damage to have occurred as a result of a manufacturer’s defect or physical damage. Shipment to our service center may be required.
Although I cannot guarantee an outcome at this time, I would like to gather some information from you. To start off with, I will send you a private message. You can check your private messages by logging into the forums and clicking on the envelope in the upper right hand corner.
Thank you for your patience as I work with you! ![]()
Sincerely,

I've also been experiencing some sound problems with the laptop.
Every time I put on my left earbud, a constant static-like feedback noise plays, which is very distracting. Has anyone else got this?
Also, the hinge that isn't broken is somewhat loose to begin with.
Next time, I'll think twice before I buy.

I got my asus for christmas and i absolutely loved everything about it till the hard drive crashed 2 months later, so i took it back and they jsut ended up replacing the computer and gave me a totally different model.. the K60... and i have slowly noticed a staticy noice coming out of the speakers and it is getting kind of annoying, other than that i like this one a lot too... but didnt get a recovery disk with this one liek i should have which could be a problem later... is this model supposed to come with the same disks as my other model did?

@Kmur0789
ASUS has a recovery tool that lets you burn your own.
Onething you can try to do is go to the Control Panel and look for Dolby Home, or Sound, etc. And turn it all off. I know the hiss you're talking about that that fixed my old ASUS in a snap.

What exactly do you mean by "turn it all off"? I have tried to change a bunch of the sound settings and I am still getting that hiss and feedback. I've had my computer for about a month and a half and the sound just gets more and more annoying

Well, I am on my second k60 now since I went back to best buy and told them about the noise and everything.. They gave me a new one, this one does the same thing, almost worse than the first one did. I think its just the model.

I just purchased this laptop from Best Buy a few days ago and have a problem when it wakes up from sleep mode. Has anyone else had an issue with sleep mode?
