Are dead/stuck pixels covered for the ipod touch?

So I bought a 1st gen ipod touch in late 07, now a dead pixel has appeared and sometimes up to 5 green dots appear in the same general area. So would it be covered under the Best Buy warranty?

Hi HDC999,

I've asked John, one of our Community Connectors, to see if he can give you a more definite response to your question.  You should hear from him within the next few business days (mindful that Friday is our holiday).

Thanks for your patience,

Re: Are dead/stuck pixels covered for the ipod touch?

Hello HDC999,

I'm sorry to hear about your iPod Touch screen problems.  Stuck or dead pixels can have a real impact on how you enjoy videos!

I consulted representatives from our service center and I've been informed that your Performance Service Plan will cover the stuck or dead pixels on your iPod Touch as long as they are not the result of any kind of damage.  Our service center will perform diagnostics and complete the repair.  In the event that the problem is not covered, you'll be contacted to discuss available options.

I hope this helps.  Thank you for bringing your concern to the forums!

Sincerely,

John|Community Connector | Best Buy® Corporate

John, for future reference, could you provide the guidelines for stuck pixels, since apple doesn't?

Re: Are dead/stuck pixels covered for the ipod touch?

Hello Nokia,

As much as I would like to share those details, the guidelines weren't provided to me by the service center, just that coverage is extended for the issue.  I was surprised that Apple doesn't outline stuck/dead pixel requirements in their warranty too.  I'm sorry I don't have a more precise answer for you.
