On 02/02/2004 I purchased an Avital security/remote start Model 4300. At time of purchase I was told this system has a lifetime warranty as long as I own the vehicle on the alarm and installation. now my alarm is failing and "Best buy" store is giving me the run-around and they don't want to honor the warranty. They tell me the lifetime warranty is only on the installation of the unit. They also said the alarm warranty was for only a year. The warranty book states it's lifetime. They didn't even want to look at the warranty book I had with me. They refuse to listen and honor the warranty as it states on the policy lifetime. At the time of sale it was lifetime now that I need it repaired it's not.
The Avital owner's guide tells me a have lifetime warranty, best buy's receipt says: Equipment Warranty Coverage; Should the equipment you purchase from and have installed by Best Buy fail under the the manufacturers warranty or the Best Buy Performance Service Plan, The equipment will be removed, repaired or replaced under the terms of the warranty, and then reinstalled in the original vehicle at no additional charge to you. To obtain warranty service, contact the nearest Best Buy Mobile Electronic installation Center. I have copies of the original receipt and warranty and Best Buy refuses to even look at it.
Directed Electronics (the makers of Avital) recommend that I first attempt to exchange the product at the dealer I purchased it from, They say this is the quickest way to exchange my product.
I need help from you, so that the store will honor the warranty service. I can fax you or email you the receipt and warranty if you'd like. The Store #302 Skokie, Illinois 60077
Thank you in advance in advance for helping me in this matter.
Sincerely
Robert

I'm not sure if there is a misunderstanding, but my warranty from Best at Buy says that Best But warrants for the life time of the vehicle. No one has even taken the time to review my original documents. I'm asking as a loyal customer for someone to review my contract and show me where I'm am wrong. I feel Bestuy is not complying with what was sold to me. They keep telling me the warranty is for installation only, My contract says this
Limited Installation warranty:
Best Buy warrants the installation workmanship performed by best buy for the lifetime of the vehicle, including all mounting and wiring, provided that no additional installation work has taken place other than by an authorized best buy mobile electronics installation center. This workmanship warranty is transferrable provided the original installation invoice is presented. To obtain warranty service vehicle must be returned to best buy mobile electronics installation center along with the original installation and product purchase receipts.
Equipment warranty coverage:
Should the equipment you purchase from and have installed by Best Buy fail under the manufactures warranty or the best buy performance service plan, the equipment will be removed, repaired, or replaced under the terms of the warranty, and then reinstalled in the original vehicle at no additional charge to you. To obtain warranty service, contact the nearest best buy mobile electronics installation center.
The equipment/alarm is lifetime not one year.

I understand this policy is in effect today, but this is not the policy I purchased. My warranty is different than what is stated in your previous email. Mine is dated 02/07/2004. You might want to look back at the policies you sold back then. I can fax you a copy as I stated in my previous email. I have all my original paper work. The warranty you refer to in your email does not apply to me. Please provide me a fax number if you want me to fax it. I will not give up on this matter. You said someone was going to call me and no one did.

KRYSTAL,
Is that form you are quoting a current form or an old one from 2004? If it's a new one you are assuming that the manual from 2004 was the same. The customer say's he has all related documents that state lifetime? If he has said documents ,it only makes sense taht he should get his product warrantied.
