Manufacturer Warranties and Protection Plans

I have the 60GB PS3 Model and it starts making too much noise and is over heating which is causing lock ups and freezing.

I have the PSP plan purchased in may of 2007.

Will Bestbuy replace my PS3 or try and fix it?

Hey gate1975mlm,

Because Best Buy® isn’t normally able to provide repairs for video game consoles, chances are that you most likely purchased a Product Replacement Plan (PRP) instead of a service plan when you got your PS3.  Like the name suggests, PRP’s allow for an immediate exchange if we are able to verify that a covered product is defective.

That being said, there are a couple of different ways that you can file a claim:

•    Call our toll-free PRP hotline at 1-888-539-6883
•    Visit https://blacktie.geeksquad.com/
•    Stop by the customer service desk at your local Best Buy® store

Regardless of which method you choose though, you’re going to want to have your receipt, the console and all of the accessories that came in the original box handy – especially if you choose the in-store option!
