50' Panasonic plasma tv- protection plan

I purchase an opened box Panasonic plasma TV last year with a 4 year warranty for 249.99.  Since I brought the TV, I did not opened nor moved the box until today when geek squad came in to wall mounted the TV. The TV is crack and does not even  work when they plugged it.  geek squad can confirm that everything was in their original packages.  I went to the store in Bridgewater for a solution, the girl was giving me a hard time, telling me that all these are not covered under 249.99. It does not say on the brochure that the TV cannot be repaired if it is a year old. How could I damage the TV since I did not moved it from its original place. It must have happened when it was originally returned or when they delivered it.  What is the best way to handle this?

I have the same problem! Hi there! Let me get this straight, it sat in the box for almost or over a year? The television Geek Squad Black Tie Protection does not cover damage to the unit.

Yes, it did sat in the box for over a year.  what is your point?  I did not touch the box nor opened it when they delivered it.  I left it the same place until the geek squad team opened it.  They can confirm that everything was still in their original package.  Beside the crack, the tv does not even worked.  How that constitute physical damage?

Re: Best way to get my TV repaired/replaced under PSP?

Well, the reason is, we do not know when the damage occured. At the store, on the delivery or once in the home. My best suggestion, repost this in a new message and a member of the Communities team can try to assist. They are quite good at what they do but I make no promises. If there is a way to take care of you, they know of it.

Re: 50' Panasonic plasma tv- protection plan

Hi jean1975,

It sounds like you got the TV delivered a year ago and it wasn’t taken out of the box for the entire year until the Geek Squad® came out to attempt to wall mount your TV. When we delivered the TV the delivery team should have taken your TV out of the box and then plugged it in to make sure it turns on. Once the team verified that your TV was functioning properly they would have had you sign paperwork showing that you agree that the TV they just delivered is in good working order, and that there is no damage on the unit.

Once the delivery team left your home any damage that shows up on the unit is assumed to have been caused by the customer, and the TV would not be able to be returned or exchanged for a different unit; nor would the service plan you purchased along with the TV cover any repairs on the unit until the damage is repaired. Any repairs to this unit would be at cost to you.

Thanks for posting,
