Re: 47 in Insignia LCD, panel went out

When we did the exchange and I found a comparable TV they said I had to pay the difference, my original TV totaled 797 and the new one was 804 on sale, so I was thinking 7 or so dollars plus tax, no big deal. Well since I received a "gift card" for 50 that didnt go towards the TV price at all it brought the amount of credit towards my new tv down to 747.   If I would of gotten 50 off the TV to begin with I would of expected to repay that but that wasnt the case. In the future I think I will decline the gift card if offered one.

Cbnunley, thanks for responding.

I'm baffled why they would do that to you.

You had enough faith to spend almost 1K on their house brand and you only did what any reasonable person would do and took advantage of the $50 incentive. The fact that Insignia had to replace your TV, is not your fault.

Like I said previously you honorably fulfilled your part of the deal back in August 2009.

I am curious to know if this is in fact Best Buy's Official Policy to rescind these incentives.

Cbnunley, how much did you have to spend to receive the $50 gift card?

Re: 47 in Insignia LCD, panel went out

Honestly I don't remember a certain amount or the promotion that was going on, it may have been a military incentive for active duty members. I purchased it back in August of 2009 so can't remember back that far.  I just remembered being surprised at checkout that I also recieved a gift card.  I agree that its not good business to repay a card that was an incentive but arguing with the associate at the store gets you nowhere, hence the reason im voicing my concern on here.

Cbnunley on 8/13/09, was offered a $50 credit in exchange for spending a certain dollar amount at Best Buy. He obviously fulfilled his obligation and received his $50 incentive.

Why was his $50 credit rescinded?

If I buy a TV, and I get a $50 GC included, and then return the TV, but do not have the GC, I'm going to get the price of the TV minus $50 back. You are in essence "buying" a $50 GC. Since a NL exchange involves a return, the store was 100% correct.

This is not your issue, and the OP doesn't seem to be bothered, so please, stop beating a dead horse.

This was not a return.

This TV was replaced by the OP's manufacturer’s warranty, not the NL exchange.

Nokia, this is cbnunley's thread and I respect him too much to stoop to your level and speak the way you are speaking to me. Go ahead you can have the last word.

It's still processed as a return.
