I bought my 42" Insignia Plasma last May when it was on Sale. The first couple week was great, but after that, there was buzzing noise coming from it. It got louder week after week ( 1-2 hours of use per day~ 200 hrs Total ) . Sometimes, it reset itself and lost all the channel memory. So I went into the menu to reprogram it, and it will restart by itself.
I called geek squad and they send a tech and replace a panel. The tech told me its very common for this model.( That was about 3 months ago)
For the last couple weeks, the TV is doing the same thing. Buzzing , auto restarting and sometimes blue/green/black screen when watching it. Sometimes, it shut off byself .
A couple days ago, noise got louder and it restart. By the time it restart, it got this loud "Crack" noise and as soon as the screen went on for 1-2 sec, it shut off. I try to wait for a couple min ( thinking it was over heat or something) After 10-15 min, I can't even turn it on. I walked to the TV and try to unplug it and replug it again. I notice there was a crack on the screen.
I called geek squad and the Tech told me its seldom that the unit will overheat and crack the screen but there have been report of it.
He will call samsung ( the manufacturer) and see if they will cover it.
Again, I really hope they can cover it because i bought an 99 dollar extented warranty . Plus its less than a year.

I've never heard of such an incident. Hopefully Samsung with take care of you, but it's a roll of the dice. Good luck.

Hi davinci1984,
After hearing about all the problems you had with this TV I can definitely understand you being concerned that the crack in this TV will not be covered. I can say that damage would not be covered unless it is determined that a defect in the TV caused your screen to crack.
I have to admit I am confused as to why your technician would be contacting Samsung to determine if they will cover the damage. I show this is an Insignia TV, and Samsung would have no say in whether Insignia’s warranty will cover the repair of this TV. Insignia is owned by Best Buy, and is a manufacturer that is independent from any other manufacturers.
I have emailed the manager of your technician to see if they can get you a sooner resolution to your concern. Once I hear back from them I will post back to this thread.
Thanks for posting,
