what is with this ME3 hype?

Ok, I can dowload an hour trial of the game with the Playstation Network, but  I doubt I should even waste the time. My question is whats up with this hype. My understanding is its like Dragon Age, but with a space theme. If that is the case, I'll pass. I played Dragon Age too much and it just angered me with all the additional add-ons. Sure it was a decent game, but nothing I found ground breaking. I have a feeling this game isn't for me.

Re: what is with this ME3 hype?

It's a series that draws you in with an actual backstory, which is rare these days.

The gameplay was groundbreaking-ish when it was first released 2 years before DA:smileysurprised:.

Basically Bioware chose to just tweak the gameplay it had in the original ME as it was really good to begin with. The same thing that Epic did with GoW series. They made a great game and great gameplay in the original. They then just built and tweaked that through the series.

ME is one of those series that get loyal fans as it is good voice acting, good gameplay and good story telling. It also builds on eachother. I started to hate the trend of all games being almost standalone games that tie very little into the last ones, so that newcomers to the franchise could just grab the newest one.

Besides Seth Green is in it.

With all those points, if you don't like the gameplay then, well... The game isn't for you.

Re: what is with this ME3 hype?

I think there are a bunch of factors for all the hype.  Perhaps the biggest being that it is the 3rd and final installment of the series, and with character progress carrying over from each successive title that makes for a pretty huge accumulation of backstory and investment for some people.  To my knowledge, there hasn't really been a console game that has even attempted something like this before.  I'm sure someone will prove me wrong in that but I really can't think of any other games that have had that level of continuity over multiple releases...
