Re: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

I actually have a 70 undead Fury Warrior on Eonar.  Started up as a tank, but I really enjoy the slicing and dicing with dual weapons :smileyhappy:

I'll be at Best Buy at midnight to HOPEFULLY get my CE....any idea how many copies of CE each store will have on hand?  How early to you recommend I get there?

Re: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

Hey greatnitz,

Yeah, I totally understand liking to pew pew even though you are a warrior. I have a protection pally but I respecced ret for a night to BG and I was like... WOW THIS IS AMAZING!!

As far as the CE, I wish I knew how many the stores were getting, but I don't.  I just hope I get lucky!  :smileyhappy:

No one seems to know what Alliance says as their battle cry btw guys.  It was the topic of our guild discussion last night.

Which reminds me, have you been subject to the horribly lag lately?  Our server was so lag-o-rific last night that we could not do the Illidari Council, because our interrupts would go off too late and they just kept healing to full!

Only 20 days.   I am so counting down!

Re: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

Our server has been having alot of lag issues too...maybe something will be fixed with the patch next week.

So your guild is working on the Black Temple?  Nice!  Ours is still trying to get through MH, although we really haven't done much since they nerfed all the bosses.

Re: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

greatnitz,

Yeah we only raid 2 nights per week, super duper casual.  Back earlier in the year, 2.4 I think,  when they removed the attunements for MH and BT we cleared MH up to Archi and the first 3 in BT the first night.  We then plowed through up to Mother Shaz in another week and literally were ready to attempt her, but did not have the shadow resist required, due to not collecting enough hearts of darkness in this short time.  We began trading our BT id to another guild in exchange for hearts/T6 chests and in about a month we had enough to go in and down her.  The IC took us another week or so, then we started farming Illidan in July.  We continued to run BT until late September when we took a break   Everyone was sick of doing the same content, and we had some turnover so we were not healer ready for SWP, and we were disenchanting most of the items that dropped.  We were really unlucky on the T6 drops, we got a million pally/priest/warlock and ONE druid/rogue/mage.  Our druids were QQing like mad!  Since the nerf to the bosses and the gain to the players, we took a bunch of our non raiders in to get our achievements done, and to give them opportunity to get gear they probably would never dream possible.  We normally do loot council, however we just had them /need on items.  It was crazy and super good for morale!  One guy was a new seventy in all greens and blues and he got 3 BT epics in one night.

Unless you NEED something off Archie, I would suggest hitting BT.  I mean everything is going to be worthless so to speak in a few weeks, once we hit level 73ish.  It will be an even playing field again for everyone.

How excited that you will only need 10 to effectively do a dungeon?  I love it!

Man, is it obvious I enjoy talking about Warcraft?

Re: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

Thank you for the information about the midnight releases. My plan right now is to have someone else pick me up a copy that afternoon so it's there when I get home from work and take the next day off to play straight through the weekend. However, I must say a midnight release and taking both days off is pretty tempting...

If only I had more faith in Blizzard that their servers will be stable enough to really play that first day!

Re: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

Hey Celticmyss!

I had not really thought about server stability.  That might throw a wrench into my plan to take off several days.  I would not want to waste one of my precious vacation days with a server not online.

So much to think about!  What do you play Celtic?  Are you Alliance or Horde?  I have not said this thus far, but I have a prot pally, a hunter and a shadow priest.

Welcome to the conversation!

Re: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

I actually started out as alliance long ago, but switched to horde before getting my first toon to 60. In regards to your question earlier about the alliance equivalent of "For the Horde!" I do remember quite a few quest givers saying "For the alliance." It just never seemed to stick as a rallying cry for the players I guess.

I played all day when BC first came out and I seem to remeber the Outlands server crashing quite a few times. I would think Blizzard would have learned from this but the recent patch release shows that maybe that isn't quite the case. I don't hold it against them though, they have a huge job to do. Sometimes it boggles the mind how many people are playing all over the world.

I have played every class to some degree, some longer than others. My current focus is a prot paladin but I have other 70s I still play occasionally. I tend to get bored with a character at 70 if I am not regularly raiding on them.

By the way, I wouldn't discount the fun of pvp as prot now if you get stuck staying specced that way. I went in to AV the other night to do the GNERD achievement and had a blast. I threw on an odd mix of healing and dps gear and went to town. I was throwing heals, throwing the Frisbee shield and judging left and right. It was the most fun I'd had in pvp in a long time!

Re: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

Yay fellow wow players, anyone much into the pvp/arena aspect of the game? Given it has been unstable lately due to new talents and arena lag, im looking forward to lvl 80 arena though. (hopefully rets will get a big nerf by then:smileytongue: ) I play a warrior, prot pvp/arms pvp atm, just trying stuff out- totally pumped for the midnight release!

Re: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

[ Edited ]

Hah, Wrath of the Lich King. I too am an avid WoW player, and while it may be something other than what you all are describing, i enjoy the experience as much as the next guy. After my guild downed Kil'Jaeden in mid August, I decided to take a break from the game. I then started up the ever argued hobby of making a private server. I happen to enjoy this much more than the game at times, as you can do things that the game developers were able to do. Such as make monsters cast spells etc. But this is WOTLK, not private servers.

Since TBC, WoW has lost its allure to me. I feel that Burning Crusade was rushed in terms of the amount of time they gave guilds to progress to the available levels. And now all of those fun dungeons are gone. Naxxramas being one of the funnest in the game, only 2% of guilds were able to experience. Now, I like the OP have had the experience of being able to play BETA, and I must say, while it looks cool, it seems as though all Blizzard has done has been to throw in more high-end raiding content rather than supply the newer players with the ability to become intrigued in the game. Also, Blizzard needs to learn that just changing the skins around on some of the older models does make games new.

I love WoW, but Blizzard has tested my patience. WOTLK is the last straw for me. Hopefully it is as big as Blizzard has made it. I personally will be re-rolling when the game comes out, and playing anew. That is, if Geek Squad's done with my computer by then. :smileytongue:

Edit: After re-reading the posts about gear being useless at 73, that reminds me to make another complaint. :smileytongue: Come on blizzard, 3 hours a night for 4 days a week, and you're making some people (even those who raid constantly every day of the week) just throw it away? I mean yes, it will feel good like it did when the first people hit 70 to show off mostly Naxx gear in Shattrath, but oh well. Keep in mind guys, while I complain, I still love the game, I just wish Blizzard would wait.
