SynopsisRecovering from his wounds after his last battle against Azeroth, Dragon Aspect Deathwing is biding his time to return from his hidden sanctuary and reforge the world in molten fire. Soon Deathwing the Destroyer shall return from the depths of Deepholm and set out to eradicate the world. As the kingdoms of Azeroth see drastic shifts in power, sparking the kindling of a war, the Horde and Alliance rush to the epicenter of the cataclysm to prevent Deathwing's return. Who will rise up against this ancient evil to protect their world from complete and utter destruction? World of Warcraft: Cataclysm adds plenty of exciting new features to the original World of Warcraft. Two new playable races are yours to discover: the cursed worgen or resourceful goblins. The level cap has increased to 85, so you can develop your characters even more than before. Classic zones across the original continents of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms have been changed and updated with new content. Explore new areas of the world, including Uldum, Grim Batol and the Sunken City of Vashj'ir. Master a new secondary profession to discover valuable artifacts and earn rewards. New objectives, rated battlegrounds, race and class combinations and achievements will keep you busy in Azeroth and beyond for a long time to come. Exclusive to the Collector's Edition, enjoy the company of a new in-game pet, Lil' Deathwing, as you struggle to defeat his larger, world-breaking counterpart. Go beyond dungeons and quests with the behind-the-scenes DVD that features more than an hour of interviews and commentaries from the developer, as well as a look back at the rich gaming history of the Warcraft universe. The Art of the Cataclysm art book will give you a private look at more than 176 pages of never-before-seen images from the Blizzard Entertainment archives, along with progressive visuals from multiple stages of development. Included in this edition, you'll also get a 60-card starter deck for the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game from the Wrathgate series, as well as two extended-art cards, and two Collector's Edition-exclusive worgen and goblin hero cards. Before you even get the expansion installed, you can get a glimpse at the enemy with the special-edition mouse pad that depicts Deathwing lording over the ravaged remains of Azeroth. When you go away from keyboard, you can still enjoy the music of Cataclysm with the 10-song soundtrack that includes bonus tracks — if you can pull yourself away.

Im gonna have to do 2 things to celebrate that announcement.

Glad Blizz finally decided to announce the release date. I was beginning to get a little worried. *laugh*
I do have a question though. Well, a couple of questions.
1> Are you guys going to have a midnight release?
2> Are you going to have any pre-order deals for Cataclysm? Like a "Pre-order now and receive <blah>" kinda thing?

Theres still no "set" release date, according ot MMO-Champion a blue had posted that Arena Season 9 will start 1 week after the release of Cata, and the new season is SUPPOSED to start December 7th. But there is still no "officially" announced release date. Not that Ive seen since 5am this morning anyway.

Hey WoW Gamers!
I updated the date/time of the chat. Please see the post above for that information. Blizzard only was able to commit to an hour for the chat but that is still considerable when such a huge game is launching!
Anjalena - I know that some stores have already announced their intent to have a Midnight Opening for Cataclysm. We should have more information on our site within about a week or so. I don't have any special pre-order offer info yet but this will definitely be where you find out! Keep that subscription to this thread active.
PS: Yay! I beat MMO-Champion with info on the release date! (Woot.)

Woohoo!! Thanks Josh! =)
I can tell that you're just as excited about Cataclysm as I am. I've been playing for 5 and a half years and I've leveled so many lowbies up. I really enjoy taking the journey. I"m not one to rush through and try to reach level <blah> before bed, etc. It took me almost 2 years to get to level 60 in vanilla WoW... 2 months before TBC came out. But, I have done all the quests over and over and over... it's very redundant at this point. So I can't wait to level up some lowbies with brand new quests! =)
Have any of you played the Beta at all? I didn't even sign up for the beta for TBC or WotLK... but I did for this one. But I haven't been invited... and I'm fine with that. The reason I don't usually sign up for betas is cuz it ruins the surprise of it to me. I love that brand new feeling of exploring this new place with everyone else who's new to it too. Very fun.
And great job beating MMO-Champion. That is quite a feat. *You have earned the [First come, First served] achievement!* *giggle*

Any updates on midnight openings? I am trying to figure out plans with friends here in Minnesota and you would think that Minneosta being the home of Best Buy and all would already have a list of their midnight opening stores?
Thanks so much!

Actually I think most stores don't know that until 2 or 3 weeks before the release date. Probably closer to 2. But I could be wrong. I usually get my games from GameStop for midnight openings so I've never been to a Best Buy one. But I have my Best Buy card and things being very tight, monetarily, that's where I'll be getting mine this time.
