TOM CHILTON Game Director Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. As a game director for Blizzard Entertainment, Inc., Tom Chilton is dedicated to ensuring that World of Warcraft® is as enjoyable as possible for all of its players. Glad Blizz finally decided to announce the release date. I was beginning to get a little worried. *laugh*

I do have a question though. Well, a couple of questions.

1> Are you guys going to have a midnight release?

2> Are you going to have any pre-order deals for Cataclysm?  Like a "Pre-order now and receive <blah>" kinda thing?

Theres still no "set" release date, according ot MMO-Champion a blue had posted that Arena Season 9 will start 1 week after the release of Cata, and the new season is SUPPOSED to start December 7th. But there is still no "officially" announced release date. Not that Ive seen since 5am this morning anyway.

I updated the date/time of the chat. Please see the post above for that information. Blizzard only was able to commit to an hour for the chat but that is still considerable when such a huge game is launching!

Anjalena - I know that some stores have already announced their intent to have a Midnight Opening for Cataclysm. We should have more information on our site within about a week or so. I don't have any special pre-order offer info yet but this will definitely be where you find out! Keep that subscription to this thread active.

PS: Yay! I beat MMO-Champion with info on the release date! (Woot.)

I can tell that you're just as excited about Cataclysm as I am. I've been playing for 5 and a half years and I've leveled so many lowbies up. I really enjoy taking the journey. I"m not one to rush through and try to reach level <blah> before bed, etc. It took me almost 2 years to get to level 60 in vanilla WoW... 2 months before TBC came out. But, I have done all the quests over and over and over... it's very redundant at this point. So I can't wait to level up some lowbies with brand new quests!  =)

Have any of you played the Beta at all? I didn't even sign up for the beta for TBC or WotLK... but I did for this one. But I haven't been invited... and I'm fine with that. The reason I don't usually sign up for betas is cuz it ruins the surprise of it to me. I love that brand new feeling of exploring this new place with everyone else who's new to it too. Very fun.

And great job beating MMO-Champion. That is quite a feat. *You have earned the [First come, First served] achievement!*    *giggle*

Any updates on midnight openings?  I am trying to figure out plans with friends here in Minnesota and you would think that Minneosta being the home of Best Buy and all would already have a list of their midnight opening stores?

Actually I think most stores don't know that until 2 or 3 weeks before the release date. Probably closer to 2.  But I could be wrong. I usually get my games from GameStop for midnight openings so I've never been to a Best Buy one. But I have my Best Buy card and things being very tight, monetarily, that's where I'll be getting mine this time.
