UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves is officially released on October 13th, and in anticipation of the event Best Buy® will be holding a live web chat here on our community forums with some of the creative minds behind the game. The chat is scheduled to take place from 6:00pm – 8:00pm Central time (7:00pm – 9:00pm Eastern) on October 8th, so make sure to be here with your questions about the game!
Here’s some background information on our upcoming guests:
Evan Wells
Evan Wells is the Co-President of Naughty Dog and has over 16 years of experience making top-selling video games. He has been working on critically acclaimed games at Naughty Dog for over 11 years, including the hugely successful Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter franchises which have sold over 35 million units worldwide combined on the PSone and PlayStation 2 consoles respectively. With the launch of the PLAYSTATION 3, Evan and the team at Naughty Dog premiered the UNCHARTED franchise with the release of UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune, which has sold over 2.5 million units worldwide to date. Naughty Dog is currently completing the next game in the franchise, UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves, which has won over 20 awards at major gaming conventions this year, including the coveted Game Critics Award for “Best of Show” at E3 2009 and the gamescom 2009 Award for “Best Console Game.” UNCHARTED 2 will be released October 13, 2009. Wells holds a Computer Science degree from Stanford University. Prior to joining Naughty Dog, Evan was a designer on ToeJam and Earl 2, Gex, and Gex 2.
Christophe Balestra
Christophe Balestra is the Co-President of Naughty Dog and has been making top-selling video games for over 13 years. His passion for programming started when he was 14 and led to making demos on the Atari-ST, Amiga and PC. Christophe was co-founder of Rayland Interactive in Paris, France, which released several games on PC and the Sega Dreamcast console. Christophe joined Naughty Dog in 2002 as gameplay programmer on Jak II, followed by serving as lead programming on Jak 3 and Jak X. As the studio began development on the first game in the UNCHARTED franchise, Christophe became Co-President of Naughty Dog and has been leading technology innovation for the award-winning UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune and UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves.
About the Game
UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves is the story of Nathan Drake, a fortune-hunter with a shady reputation and an even shadier past who is lured back in the treacherous world of thieves and mercenary treasure-seekers. Drake embarks on a journey that will push him to physical, emotional and intellectual limits to discover the real truth behind the lost fleet of Marco Polo and the legendary Himalayan valley of Shambhala.
