Hey Kyle,
Will BB be doing a midnight release on the 19th for SWTOR or does it vary store to store?
12-08-2011 04:53 PM
Hey drewg22,
From what it sounds like we actually only have two stores hosting special midnight openings for this release: Union Square, NY and Austin, TX. It's always good to confirm with your local Best Buy though as it does vary from store to store.

Hi,
Can you tell me the first day BB plans to ship SW:TOR to it's CE customers?

I have the same question as Frenemy.
Bioware representatives originally stated (In August) that Pre-Orders would receive a "grace period" to allow people who ordered from third-party retailers (like Best Buy) the ability to continuously play from the end of early game access to the arrival of their product key. (http://www.swtor.com/community/showpost.php?p=8064
Bioware also updated the FAQ on December 8 to remove reference to a "grace period."
I'm assuming the game is being shipped earlier than December 20th, since even if a person had a physical copy of the game in hand, they could not log on until the servers were active.
Thanks.

So when this chat goes live. Should we ask why a lot of people who pre ordered still haven't recieved there pre order invite key yet. I PM'ed you Kyle and Gaming and still no answer.

same problem as dustin for me, been about 3 days now

@Frenemy and NielsBohr - We do not actually ship games before they release in order to avoid breaching vendor agreements. With this title though, pre-orderers will have the opportunity to load the full game before it even releases so, although I can't speak too much to how they'll handle the transition from early access to official release, you should already have the game loaded and even been playing before then.

@dustin554 - I'm almost positive this isn't a question they'll field as it relates to the purchase experience and not necessarily the game experience, which is what they'll be talking about. Please hang in there as we work through the Gaming-BBY inbox and get to your private message.

Thank you for your response, Kyle. For CE owners it means we can play for x many early access days until December 20th. Then, until our physical game copy arrives, we will be prevented from playing, due to EA/BW's removal of their grace period.
Is that how BB understands it, or will product codes, (in addition to the pre-order codes we were previously given), also be sent via email the day the CE product is shipped?
