Hello Kyle, I just recently found this link AFTER I purchased the game from a Best Buy that doesn't have a midnight release listed.

Is there any way I could transfer my pre-order to another store?

I have the same question.  I received explicit confirmation of a midnight release at my local store from the employee I preordered through (the midnight release was the only reason I decided to preorder there).  Today, after deciding on a whim to call and confirm the info, I found out that the store was, in fact, NOT doing a midnight release.  To say the least, being lied to by an employee to make a sale doesn't reflect well upon the company.  I'm scrambling around trying to find where I can go to pick it up at midnight and it looks like Wal-Mart will be getting my business tonight unless Best Buy steps up and does something to rectify the misinformation.  And my call to the local isn't a good indicator of the company actually wanting my business...

chrispalmer - You should be able to contact the store at which you wish to attend the midnight opening to see if you'll be fine to pick it up there.  In most cases, if you pre-ordered the standard edition you should be good.

atmospherium - I can understand your being upset if you had been assured the store was going to be open and then they aren't.  Most of our stores just had a midnight release earlier this week and that can really be taxing on the labor hours to do another one.  I don't know if this is the reasoning or if the employee was just off but, either way, I'm really sorry for the hassle.  Perhaps there is another store within driving distance that is hosting one: http://bbyurl.us/ESVSkyrim

ok so i called my local best buy but they say there not open but in the list of midnight releases they are doing it,does that mean they are open or not?

Calling them is really the best way to verify if they are actually hosting a midnight opening and if they advised that they are not they probably are not.  I'm sorry about that but perhaps you might be able to find another in your area: http://bbyurl.us/ESVSkyrim
