Re: Recommendations of lesser known games

Trials HD and Trial Evolution (newest release).  I didn't think they were "lesser known" but Mariel hadn't heard of them so I felt an immediate responsibility to inform everyone about how insanely fun they are.  I'm sure many of you have heard of them as Evolution has made the headlines a lot recently, what with it breaking Xbox Live and all (record number of downloads).

Anyways, these games are kind of like the modern-day Excitebike.  You drive a motorcycle on a linear physics-based track with the main challenge being to stay on your bike and not hit your head on anything. Casual gamers will have fun and Hardcore gamers will enjoy the Insane tracks, as they are as unforgiving and impossible as Dark Souls.

Re: Recommendations of lesser known games

Heeeeey I've heard of Trials HD, only because the demo comes on new Xboxes. :smileyhappy:

I try to live up to my hardcore reputation as much as possible. I need a filler game to play before Max Payne but Trials doesn't sound quite appealing enough..

Two weeks is an incredibly long time for a gamer like me.

Enslaved on Xbox - came out the same day as RDR in May 2010. It got way overlooked. It's a Microsoft Studios game and it's fun. It's a pretty quick game but it would be worth it since it's pretty cheap now.

Isn't Enslaved a Ninja Theroy game? Not Microsft Studios? I bought it as part of a deal. Traded it in without playing it. I hear mixed things. Friend didn'tt like it and we have very similar taste so I assume I wouldn't. I would of played it but back long was mean during that time,
Probably would say Nier. Story is interesting. Not great though. If you like action/adventure games it's enjoyable. Very basic gameplay but it works well. Probably one of the best things about the game is the music. Just beautiful. Besides that game I say Earth Defense Forces.

I think I have a winner! I will try Nier!!

Hopefully you like like it. I hear a lot of people bashing it when it first came out but gave it a try. Then again, I'm into like action/adventures/slash em up. I think Message Board standards are way too high. Though I know recentally over on Gamefaqs people have been really interested in Nier which is pretty weird. People there are a weird bunch.

Good thing is you can find this game super cheap. Under 20 bucks so if you hate it you won't feel bad spending too little for a game!

Re: Recommendations of lesser known games

It's $7.99 Used, and at a Best Buy down near here! I'm going to pick it up. It looks like a decent game; one that I could blow through pretty fast and have some fun. I'll let you know how it is and thanks for the recommendation!

Oh cool. Yeah, 8 bucks ain't bad. I just hope you like it. I like recommending just get scared when they may not enjoy it as much as I do. You can get through it kinda fast. There is a lot of quest so if you're like me, I have to do them all lol. Just don't give up on it too fast. I hate the beginning of the game. Didn't shine till maybe 2 hours in. Others have felt differently and like the beginning.

Also heads up, the intro to the game (before the game starts up) has some a semi-curse word right away. So if you have like young ones around you may want to spam the Start button.

Re: Recommendations of lesser known games

One of my favorite most underlooked games of this gen has to be The Outfit for the 360. It has the perfect balance of strategy, shooting, and gameplay that you don't find in a lot of games. When I found it sitting at BB in the used games section the gaming rep who knows my buddy and I fairly well said "wow I have never heard someone get that giddy over finding a used copy of The Outfit before" ha ha
