Let's Talk Games

Few things get me as stoked as an upcoming video game.  

I start to act all funny, like I'm a bear preparing for winter or something.  I consume large quantities of media - trailers, wikis, FAQs, tweets, forum posts, you name it - making sure I am as ready for it as humanly possible.  I scrounge up every little morsel of information I can find right up until street date.  I even warn others of the coming awesomeness and help them get their gamer readiness rating up (see what I did there).  

And let's not forget the crucial public and monetary acknowledgement of your devotion to the game: The pre-order.

Then release day (or midnight) comes like the drop of a nuke and the man-cave's vault door shuts.  It's full-game immersion for as long as I can keep my eyes open.

Ok, so I don't have a vault door on my man-cave... and my man-cave is is a shared living room space... and I usually have to work the next day because most games come out on Tuesdays... but that's what happens in my head!!!

All of that to preface this question:

What game(s) are you most looking forward to?

Tell us what game has you squirming in your chair and dreading how many days lie between you and it.

I know I usually get flak from the community for posting a question and not actually answering it myself so here I go…

I can NOT wait for XCOM: Enemy Unknown.  I played the crap out of the original back in the 1990s and the fact that Firaxis (the makers of Civilization) is doing the “re-imagining” is just blowing my mind.  And everything I am hearing is only increasing my anticipation level.  They are completely honoring all of the right things about the original and making them better with modern tech.

Also, Borderlands 2.  But who isn’t super amped for that game… ok maybe Mariel isn’t but I am committed to converting her into Borderlands fan.

I don't really even know what I am looking forward to as last end of year was simply AMAZING. It had all the games that I wanted. GoW3 was the big one for me. Skyrim, LoZW, CoD, B:AC were all games I was strongly looking forward to. I mean the last 3 months of 2011 were gaming paradise.

The one game I was really looking forward to this year was ME3, which has already passed. So by default I guess Bioshock Infinite. I loved Bioshock. Bioshock 2 was good, but wasn't that awe inspiring as I hoped. Here's hoping for another blockbuster.

Probably Assassin's Creed 3. I'm not super excited for it, but the only game I can think right that I'm waiting for. That and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. That is....if it comes out.

In no particular order, this is what my paychecks are reserved for:

• Guild Wars 2
• The Secret World
• Hitman Absolution
• Tomb Raider
• Sim City

Not sure how I'm going to find time for them though.  Do you sell clones at BBY?

Oh yeah, we totally invite conversation.  Converse away!  This board alone makes my job not feel like a job.

We are continuing to work with our vendors to see if we can carry any of their clone models but nothing yet.  Apparently, there is some issue with them not being invented yet.  We'll keep working on it though.  This is the closest we've come so far...

Tonight I'm finally opening Mass Effect 3!

I agree with Jimmie on the last quarter for 2011. In a span of two weeks, I purchased seven games. SEVEN.

I'm really looking forward to Max Payne. I haven't played any of the originals, but when I was a kid, I wanted to play Max Payne on PC so badly, but my mother wouldn't let me. Now that my gaming habits are not moderated by my mother, I feel kind of like that little kid, dying to play it.

I'm also excited for Bioshock Infinite. I was severely disappointed with Bioshock 2. I played it, enjoyed it, but didn't feel the same as I did after the first one. I am also excited for GTA 5 - gotta love GTA - and AC III.

Should be a good year for games. Who knows, maybe they'll throw out yet another CoD at the end of the year. It seems to be an annual release....

From what I heard its Blops round 2.

I wasn't that impressed by MW3 original maps, but the map packs are actually pretty good.

GTA V, what else

    played and beat every single game in  franchise

MOH WarFighter, why not

    loved it ever since I played the original on PC, also played and beat all of them in the franchise

Little Big Planet:Vita Version, oh boy oh boy

    More sackboy, can't wait till June

Resistance:Burning Skies, another one...

    love the story, love the franchise

No One Lives Forever 3, if thats gonna ever happen
