Hey everybody,
The two most anticipated first person shooters of the year, Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have been released. Which one is the better game?
Even though I haven’t played it yet, I personally thought Battlefield 3 was overrated by critics. To receive such high markings, a game has to be worthy both in multiplayer and campaign, not just one or the other. I don’t doubt that the multiplayer is ground breaking and fantastic, but for me, some of the open world/everything is destructible is distracting and overwhelming. I love campaign but when I heard it was less than mediocre, I didn’t rush out to buy it.
I admit, I’m a bit biased because I love the Modern Warfare series (as seen in Kyle-BBY’s blog about the game), but it is honestly everything I expected and hoped for. The campaign was exciting and intense the entire time. I love the new two-part Spec Ops, even though I had doubts about that being successful. Multiplayer is awesome, especially with the new breakdowns of perks, weapons, and game modes.
All in all, I’m going with MW3 as the winner. What do you think?

MW3 all the way, BF3 cant touch MW3.

I tend to agree, MW3 took the cake for me. BF3 has a lot going for it with the vehicles and formidable online multiplayer experience but it doesn't feel quite as refined and robust as MW3. I've played a handful of multiplayer matches on BF3 on a buddy's PS3 and the big destructible maps were nice. The sniping class actually held its own with others.
On the flip side, I really feel like Infinity Ward nailed it with MW3 and all of it's features. The Spec Ops survival mode is like a more intense version of Halo: Reach Firefight. The new gun leveling system for online multiplayer really plays into my "just one more game" syndrome.
From what it sounds like, a lot of people bought both titles so there's really a lot each title has to offer.

I like the two I think battlefield multiplayer is better than MW3 it seems more realistic compared to COD being the same thing it has been for the past 5 years I haven't got to play the special ops mode on yet so I can't comment on that The campaign on MW3 is wonderful and is where it's at for me.I say BF3 is for more realistic team play and MW3 is just run n gun try to kill em all.So all in all I will be the first one here to say battlefield is better just because it's something new and more realistic this will be my last COD I buy unless they make some changes get a new engine or something I almost feel like I'm playing MW2 TBH slap on a couple new guns and perks but its basically all still the same I know COD has a huge fan base and its the more popular title but BF multiplayer is really where it's at out of the two which is really the meat and potatoes of a game nowadays when it comes down to it

Stop trying to compare them. They are two completely different type of games with different gameplay styles and should not be compared. MW3 is for action junkies with short attention spans and just want to shoot things. BF3 is much slower paced and requires teamwork to realize objectives. Both games are rewarding depending on the taste of the player.

so the one you like more is.....?

Though I agree there is a slightly different target, DarkWingDUCK, I personally don't think that has any impact on the quality of the game itself. It may influence the perspective of the game, but speaking only from an objective standpoint, it should not deter the quality of the game. I am totally open minded to both games, but it was really disappointing to hear that the BF3 campaign was not good. To me, that doesn't equal a 9.0 or 9.5/10 rating.
Regardless of the target audience (action packed junkies or slower team focused people), I wonder which games pulls it off the best in terms of the whole game itself. Hmmmmmm...

It really depends on your playstyle. If you're a straight deathmatcher - go for MW3.
If you enjoy a more "strategic" playstyle and teamwork, go for BF3.
My experience with MW2 was that multiplayer was full if little prima donna kids, all in it for personal glory. I didn't last long before I just outright disabled voice comms because I couldn't stand listening to it.
BFBC2, on the other hand, had actual value in the voice chat, enough for me to buy a new headset.
I know I'll be buying BF3, and not touching MW3 at all myself. I had enough with the little kids in MW2 multiplayer.

Hahaha, oh the little kids in CoD. No one can say that isn't true. I think they're kind of funny but yeah, most of the time I just mute those little kids ![]()
It's so funny you mention that because, unless I'm playing with friends (and even when I am), I won't talk. You wouldn't believe the kind of things that get said to me in the CoD community as a female than in any other community.
I couldn't get into BFBC2. The matches were always really long and I didn't enjoy it very much. I did enjoy the campaign a lot, which got me interested in the game. I eventually sent my game to an Xbox friend who had to sell his, because he absolutely loved it and I didn't really get into it.
Entropy, maybe just rent MW3? Try out the new spec ops and game modes? I will probably still play BF3, after I blow through AC: R and Skyim before ME3 and GTA 5.
I'm a nerd. ![]()
