Re: Bioware to possibly change ME3 ending

Speaking of Aaron, I think he needs to come here and share his unreserved ME3 thoughts as I'm sure you all would find them quite intriguing.  *wink wink* *nudge nudge* @Aaron, who is likely reading this notification email.

Ubisoft?

Tell more. I generally really like Ubisoft!

All their games are poorly put together imo even the tom clancy games(Ghost Recon series, Hawx Series) oh and lets not forget the assasins creed series,

All have good elements that are thrown under the bus by some garbage they add in to "improve" it

Maybe its just me expecting to much from every game they can't all be AAA:smileysad:

Re: Bioware to possibly change ME3 ending

I guess by giving this ending Bioware wanted people to think about the ending and figure out themselves just like inception where it was left for debate and people has come up with various scenarios about it. Problem with ME3 ending is that discussion about various scenarios is not able to move forward because it contradicts the facts already laid down by the previous 2 games. So people are left confused in the end.

If you insist, Kyle.  Just be warned that people agreeing with me is a sign of the apocalypse.

:smileytongue:

I'm a firm believer in the notion that stories don't necessarily need to have a concrete, linear, or "happily ever after" ending.  Endings can be abstract, can deviate from formulas the audience expects, and can be downright depressing/unsettling/jarring while remaining true to the spirit of the work.  I think ME3 managed to do this, despite claims to the contrary.

A few things to consider:

Decisions are made in every story – some by the main character, some by supporting characters.  No matter how important an individual decision may appear though, that decision is but one of many that may lead to a single given outcome.  Previous decisions don’t always resurface in easily recognizable forms either.

Foreshadowing can leave an audience with a sense that something isn’t right, but completely oblivious to what lies in store.  If done well, the audience might not even detect the clues provided by the storyteller until after the second, third, or fifth viewing…or the third installment in a franchise.

Actions do not always speak louder than words.  You can sometimes learn more about a story by listening to dialogue, reading background lore, and considering alternate interpretations of what is said than what is revealed through action alone.  Underlying themes can also be uncovered this way.

Navy, azure, cobalt.  All three are variants of the same primary color (blue), but each has its own defining characteristics.

At any rate, I don't see what all the fuss is about.  The trilogy's story was top-notch, it had well-developed characters, and I genuinely cared about what happened.  I even liked how it all ended.  Then again, this is coming from someone who thinks Ashley Williams is one of the most likeable characters in the series (behind Tali, of course).  Take that for what you will.

Not satisfied with ME3’s ending?  That’s what fanfic is for.

Re: Bioware to possibly change ME3 ending

Jimmie and zz, if you want to start a thread on Ubisoft's problems, you will get an earful from me. Don't even get me started on Assassin's Creed. I thought they did something like, release DLC to make fans happy at some point.

YAY Aaron. I agree wholeheartedly, yet still prepared to *open mouth, insert foot* when I actually play.

Re: Bioware to possibly change ME3 ending

I agree with you Aaron. I realize that I may or may not like the ending (as I haven't played it yet), but accept that is how they chose to end it. They wrote the story, they choose the ending.

The ONLY problem is that Bioware stated and led to "all decisions matter", "over 1,000+ decisions" , "affecting you outcome". When in fact nothing really matters that much.

Granted if the advertisements didn't go so far in selling the decisions matter factor, I would have just chalked the ending up to artistic vision (no matter what is done you cannot change certain events).

I honestly think that Bioware pushed this title out. They are talking that the DLC could be out as early as April. This means it was towards its final phases and at least in alpha. So it was either pushed out, or the devs differed in opinion on how it should end and just chose one.

IMHO I think it was rushed and the ending we are seeing was supposed to be 1 of multiple endings.

this is exactly why its false advertisement and if the dlc aint free they may have a class action lawsuit  ontheir hand. It sucks but claiming one thing and selling another is illegal last i checked.

@Jimmie

I'm not so sure about that - the Galaxy at War system appears to take many decisions into consideration that could be viewed as inconsequential.  Have you seen the requirements to obtain the Ex-Cerberus Engineers War Asset?  Individual decisions may not seem like they matter much, but it's the sum of those decisions that determine what toppings are included with your vanilla ice cream in the end.
