In the past if you walked into a Best Buy® store searching for DJ equipment you probably would not have found a very large selection.  In fact, chances are that you may have missed the section entirely while browsing through our home theater, portable audio, and (in some cases) car audio departments.  Well, all that is about to change!

Over the next few weeks we’ll be introducing our brand-new Club Beats section to our U.S. retail stores, areas dedicated to DJ equipment and everything that consumers might need to get started in this exciting field.  Whether it’s a serious artistic endeavor or simply a new hobby you’re looking for, you’ll be able to find everything there from mixers to lighting kits and from speakers to turntables.

The music industry is changing, artist create, produce, record, distribute without "THE MAN" and your stores carry all the technology to get it done, show your customers what can be accomplished. Club Beats could be great, how does a local talent get involved?  It would be great to have local talent play in your stores/music centers to give customers live exposure to using the products you sell.  You need to drive some traffic into your music dept. Gets some live shows bumpin in your stores!!!   MPLS

About the Author
  • Computers, video games and TVs have always been fascinating to me. Not only are they wonderful ways to relax, but they’re also immensely useful as tools. Computers allow us to communicate instantly with family members across the country through e-mail, video games allow us to make friends with people across the globe we wouldn’t even meet otherwise, and TVs allow us to see what’s happening in our very own towns…all at the touch of a button. Sure, over time I’ve managed to assemble a collection of other electronic gadgets that would make most people do a double-take, but that just isn’t enough. I want to know how they work. I want to know why they work. I want to know that I can connect every electronic device in my home into a single, fully-functional network that I can access from over 1,000 miles away at the drop of a hat. Not because I have a reason to do so, but because I can. I am a geek, plain and simple.
  • Photography has been my passion in life for as long as I can remember. Over the past twenty years, I have been creating photographic images, both professionally and artistically. I also have a B.F.A in photography. The first camera I ever purchased was a 35mm single lens reflex camera that took me an entire summer of weeding strawberry plants at a local farm to be able to afford. A lot has changed since then, and I have owned numerous camera systems from 35mm- Large Format. None of my previous equipment has affected the photographic experience for me as much as the Digital SLR I purchased a few years back. Since converting from film to digital, I have found that the immediate nature of digital photography has drastically changed the way I approach my subjects and has enabled me to view, share, and print my images in a completely new way. In addition to photography, I am passionate about the outdoor experience. Twice a year I head out to the great outdoors and go backpack camping, hiking and of course, landscape/nature photography.
  • I am a gamer; I have loved video games since the Nintendo launched on the scene and am currently rocking the latest gaming consoles. I am a geek; I love the latest technology and how it can improve life. I am a cyclist; I commute to work primarily by bicycle all year round and ride in charity events. I am a father; I have a son that I love very much who is with me full time this year. And finally, I am a good sport; you can talk to me about anything you’d like, even if you don’t have the best opinion of the company that I love to work for. I enjoy conversations about almost everything and my focus is to make sure that there is no rock unturned and no totally rad (or even partially rad) thing that goes on at Best Buy escapes your notice. In my free time, I cycle around Minneapolis and St. Paul with my friends, hang out at bike shops, attend art openings and volunteer at a local theater. I love art and music and attend lots of local shows as well; without art and music, I don’t know how I would be able to survive, to be honest! Strap in, and enjoy the ride, world!
