If you’ve browsed the laptop section at your local Best Buy® store or on BestBuy.com anytime within the past two years chances are you’ve seen signs mentioning our additional service plans. These service plans, called Geek Squad® Black Tie Protection (or GSBTP for short), are available for most models we carry. Customers frequently have questions about what benefits are included in GSBTP coverage though, so we’d like to take this opportunity to provide a basic overview.
Standard GSBTP Plans
Standard GSBTP plans include repair coverage for the following:
Each plan also includes our No Lemon Policy. This policy guarantees that if your computer accrues three previous qualifying hardware repairs and a fourth confirmed hardware failure – or if it cannot be repaired - it will be exchanged with a brand-new, technologically comparable model or store credit. We even offer one-time battery replacement to customers with this level of coverage, as well as one-time replacement of the unit’s charger and power cord.
These plans are available for purchase on BestBuy.com and at each of our retail stores.
Advanced GSBTP Plans
Advanced GSBTP plans feature the same benefits as our standard plans, with an additional layer of protection in the form of Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) coverage. This benefit protects your laptop from damages due to common mishaps like liquid spills, falls from furniture, or being closed improperly – anything that might reasonably occur over the course of normal use. It even provides coverage for broken LCD screens and image burn.
One-year ADH-only plans are also available, but both Advanced GSBTP plans and ADH-only plans can only be purchased at one of our retail stores.
Premium GSBTP Plans
Premium GSBTP plans feature the highest tier of protection we offer. Not only do these plans include the same perks as both our standard and advanced plans, but they also feature the following additional benefits:
Just like our Advanced GSBTP plans and ADH-only plans, Premium GSBTP plans are only available through our retail stores.
