It’s that time of year... Madden time!  The one day every year that I wait at my local Best Buy store’s midnight opening.  After getting my copy I get home, throw my feet up, and get crackin’ on the important stuff… you know, like roster updates.  I'll then spend the whole next day feasting upon the other online gamers like it's my second nature.

I had the opportunity last night to check out the demo of this year’s edition and was pleasantly surprised.  There are improvements in the tackling animations and defensive setup.  The visual changes I liked were in the kicking game and after touchdowns.  I begrudgingly chose the lesser of two evils, the Packers as my team of choice in the demo (the other team to choose was the Bears).  Instantly I fell in love with the "Tecmo Super Bowl" style kickoffs from the sideline camera.  I scored on my first drive with a 15 yard slant to Donald Driver. After kicking the extra point from a camera angle that seemed to be from the other end zone, it showed my offense congratulating each other on the side line.   This was a pretty cool value add to the game. 

You wouldn’t think the graphics could get any better but then, every year it happens. I noticed the paint-trading on the helmets; pretty sweet if you ask me.  Soldier Field also looked wonderful from the overhead view. 

I am super pumped to pick up my copy of Madden NFL 12 featuring cover athlete Peyton Hillis.  EA Sports had a cool idea this year to let fans pick the player you want on the cover.  They had bracket style voting open to fans only and the Cleveland Browns bruiser Hillis beat out the competition for the honors. 

If you are a Madden fan, you should love this year’s edition just like all the others.  If you are not a fan… you should be!
