A couple weeks ago I wrote about another Smartphone maker jumping into the tablet wars and now this week HTC, the maker of hit Android Smartphones like the Droid Incredible, Thunderbolt, and G2, is taking their turn with the HTC Flyer. It runs the Android Gingerbread operating system, so it will feel like coming home (to a bigger screen!) for those of you attached at your pointer finger to Android Smartphones.
The Number 7:
With a 7 inch display it’s big enough to watch movies on the go and call in Angry Bird strikes with laser precision while still being small enough to fit in a jacket pocket. It manages to cram all the goodies we’ve come to expect from an Android tablet into a little aluminum package including a front-facing camera for video calling, a 5 MP rear-facing camera for High Definition video and photo capture, Flash support for full web browsing, Google productivity apps, Gyroscope, GPS, mini-USB for easy file sharing, and microSD card slot for more file storage (deep breath). Did I mention Angry Birds and more Android apps than you could ever need?
How is that different than most other tablets out right now, you ask?
The Letter M:
What really sets the Flyer apart is the optional Magic pen, a digital stylus that lets you doodle on and annotate just about anything. At any point while you’re wandering the web, browsing your photo gallery, or doing just about anything really, take a screen capture and load it into the Notes app, designed to take advantage of the pen's unique capabilities, to add some personal flair. The Flyer also has a Kid’s Mode so budding gadget monsters can use the pen to game, paint, and surf the web safely.
In short, it's just about everything we hope for in a 7 inch tablet with a few of HTC's signature touches and a fun stylus add on. Get the Flyer and the Magic Pen first, exclusively at Best Buy®. Let us know if you have any questions!
