A little more than a year ago Disney announced their next big game, Disney Infinity, which left me eagerly awaiting its release. A long seven months later, it finally came out and I was hooked.
I admit I do not have kids, but I am a big Disney fan, so all of the Figures, Play Sets, and Power Discs I've collected have been for my own enjoyment. When I first bought the Starter Pack though I was a bit worried it might be too easy and I'd get bored, but from the moment I got sent flying into a building by an Omnidroid and then again over and over, I knew I was going to be challenged. Some people I know who bought the game "for their kids" often mention handing the controller to their kids to get through tough spots, so it is still fairly easy for most ages.
One of my favorite areas of the game has by far been the Toy Box. Here you get to use the various items and themes the power discs contain along with other items won in the game to create your own worlds and adventures. I’ve built my own Sugar Rush racetrack, set up a soccer stadium, and even created my own fireworks show over Cinderella’s castle. The Toy Box allows you to be as creative and imaginative as you can. In addition, if you are stuck on what to create next, on most platforms you can download Toy Boxes created by Disney or other players to explore and get more ideas. Some of the Toy Boxes have been amazing recreations of Disney theme parks, movie kingdoms and more.
Lately when I haven’t had as much time to play on my game system, I’ve been able to keep up with playing on my tablet and laptop, using the same figures and play sets that I linked to my online account. I also have continued to obtain the various figures as they come out, my favorite so far being the Sorcerer Mickey. The Power Discs have been another craze trying to get each one. With them being sold as blind two packs, you never know what discs you will get until you open the pack, which brings me back to buying baseball cards as a kid and always wanting another pack until I had my favorite.
Now just as the final known figures and power discs are being released, leaving me and other players to wonder what’s next, Disney is announcing Disney Infinity 2.0 and Disney Marvel Superheroes later this year. Will there be new characters? Perhaps a whole new world? The possibilities are infinite.
