Announcing Google TV!
Like many people, I don’t keep my desktop computer anywhere near my TV. In fact, it’s about as far away from the TV as it can be - separated by a floor and the entire length of a house. That means that whenever I can’t remember an actor’s name and want to look it up on the internet I have to get up out of my favorite chair, walk up two flights of stairs, avoid tripping over a cat that seemingly wants me to fall flat on my face, turn my computer on, wait for it boot up, and then pray I remember the name of the show I was watching as I stare at a blank search bar. All while commercials are running.
Well, thankfully Google and Best Buy are partnering up to change all that. With the recent announcement of Google TV, we may soon be able to seamlessly transition from watching what’s-that-show to looking up what’s-her-name on IMDB without having to leave our living rooms. And without the page errors typically associated with other web-on-TV browsing devices! Not only does Google TV allow you to surf the internet while keeping live TV in a picture-in-picture window, but it also allows you to search both the internet and live TV channels for your favorite shows. It will even find future airings of shows and can be set for recording if you own a DVR.
Google TV is currently planned to be introduced in the form of set-top boxes, but may be integrated into upcoming HDTV models and other devices. For more information though make sure to check out our official announcement on BestBuy.com:
