Voice - Portable Speaker Won't Auto-Reconnect to WiFi

Hello,

 

I have been enjoying my new Voice Smart Portable Speaker with the exception of one rather annoying issue. Whenever my router is reset or internet is lost for any reason, the speaker will NOT auto-reconnect once WiFi is restored. This requires me to either hard reboot the device or re-run the setup in the Google Home app every time connection is lost.

 

My official Google Home and Home Mini devices do not exhibit this behavior, nor do any of my other connected devices. All of them automatically reconnect when WiFi becomes available. Are there any fixes for this, or a firmware update that will address it in the future? It makes an otherwise great device become quite a hassle.

Hey Matt,

 

Welcome to our Community.  Sorry to hear that your Insignia™ smart speaker seems to be having a bit of trouble re-connecting to Wi-Fi after being interrupted.  Have you tried performing a factory reset on the device? To do this, you'll want to press and hold the Microphone button for 12 seconds.

Yes, I just did a full reset and setup. It still exhibits the same behavior every time Wifi is disconnected. Requires a hard reset or app setup to get it online again.

Thanks for following up.  Can you tell me what the model number of this speaker is and about how long this connection issue has been occurring?

This is the NS-CSPGASP2. The issue started happening from the first day I purchased the device last week, which leads me to believe this is some kind of firmware problem with the device.

Hey Matt,

 

Thanks for that model number.  It looks like you've tried most of the troubleshooting steps listed in the User Guide for this particular speaker.  If you haven't already, I might suggest trying a full reset on your router/modem.  In the event that still doesn't fix the problem, I'll reach out to our engineers to see if there's another workaround I can recommend.

Yes, I did a full reset on my router as well but that did not solve the problem. As stated earlier, I have many smart devices including several Google Homes that all reconnect automatically after an interruption. This is the only device that seems to get permanently "lost" after it goes offline.

I have the same issue. I own a google home and a mini. Just got the insignia today. I hate to have to return it so i will wait a few days and see if someone comes up with a fix.
