Xbox 360 Warrenty

Hello, I am wondering if I could go to Best Buy and get my refund for my broken xbox 360 or a new one becuase mine is broken. I only paid $235 for it and it says you can get a refund anything below $249. I have been buying warranties from best buy for the past 4 years and always got a gift card back so I could by a new xbox 360. Just need to know if I can return it in the store and get a gift card and just buy a new one while IM there.

Re: Xbox 360 Warrenty

When did you purchase this xbox and the protection plan? If it was after September 08,(or if you renewed it any time after that date), then it will be sent to service and you will receive a refurbished unit in the mail.

As a former employee of Best Buy my opinions are my opinions, and not those of Best Buy.

The warranty within Best Buy for the XBOX 360 has seen more revisions than the XBOX 360 itself. The last one occuring in September 2008 as previously mentioned, in which you bring your XBOX in for service and they do what is called a "Rapid Exchange" in that they send out your unit, and then you get a replacement unit back within 3-5 business days, as opposed to the 2-3 weeks it takes to sending it in yourself. It does not then void your extended warranty either if you have to use it, basically you are covered for the duration that you paid for. Also, from what I have been told, apparently when you send your XBOX in for repair, they "gut" the system out and replace the components with the latest that are out there and then send it back to you. I believe if you have to go through this process three times during the life of your warranty, Best Buy then considers the product to be lemon, and gives you a gift card for the purchase price (less warranty price) allowing you to purchase a new system. You may want to speak to customer service about this, or better yet, one of the store managers just to be safe.

They do not send back the same unit. They send you a whole refurbished console every time. The system might get gutted and fixed for somebody else but not the same customer. If they junk it out, they give you a comparable console, not always the identical purchase price as prices change and drop.

Had you have said "purple stars and green clovers" I would have said you enjoy "Lucky Charms" cereal.
