Hello everyone, I had recently experienced the RRoD on my 360, luckily i have a replacement plan from best buy, meaning i could walk in the store and purchase a new one with a gift card the store provides, and when i called in i had received some instructions on sending my xbox in, tho, i dont remember what the full and latest instructions are. Can anyone please let me know some tips on sending my 360 in?
I also have a question, if i had the original wireless controller, and it went bad but i've already thrown it out, and i bought an additional one, do i still have to send it in with the console to MS?
I also heard not to send my HDD in with it, could i also keep any of the cables? Any thoughts?
Whether you choose to process an exchange at your local store or by mail, you’re going to want to package up everything that came in the original box – console, controllers, cables and all. It’s okay if you’ve thrown out the original box though, just as long as everything is kept together. While Best Buy® doesn’t necessarily need to have any of the software that came with the unit, we do need all of the actual hardware in order to process an exchange or issue you a gift card under your Product Replacement Plan (PRP) coverage.
Unfortunately, you’re not able to keep the hard drive that came with the original console. As such, it’s strongly suggested that you copy your saved game files or seek data backup services before sending your Xbox 360 to either Best Buy® or Microsoft. To keep the programs/games you’ve downloaded through the Xbox Live Marketplace, however, you’ll need to transfer the associated content licenses to your new console. Instructions on how to do so can be found here.
Hope this helps you out!
