I attempted to trade in 4 games in store today. One of my game cases did not have a barcode and said "Not for Resale" because it was originally packed with a console bundle. I kindly asked the employee if there was any way to look up the game without the barcode. He rudely accused me of being unethical. I know for a fact that I'd have no issue trading in this game to Gamestop. The employee accusing me of being unethical seriously makes me rethink using Best Buy for my trade-in needs.
They no longer REQUIRE the cases or anything but the discs/carts to do trade-ins in store. But what you ran into here was a LAZY employee since they CAN look the games up by name(how they process trades when no case is present).
Unfortunately it'll probably take somebody from Best Buy around a week give or take to respond to you about this issue. So you have to be patient in the meantime until they respond.

Hi darthprime99 –
Thanks for posting and bringing this to our attention. It’s disappointing to hear your trade-in experience at one of our stores was unpleasant, and I apologize for any unfound or inappropriate accusations our associate may have made, in addition to not provided the kind of assistance they should have. That said I’ll be happy to advise you here.
@TheJadedGamer is correct in their post regarding the requirement of game cases, and our ability to look up individual titles in our system. As a result if you so desire you may return to the store to complete your trade-in if the title is one we’re currently accepting. I do thank you for taking the time to share your experience and complaint with us here on our forums, which I will be recording here at our corporate offices. If you have any other questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to post again.
