Transfer preorder to store with midnight release

I realized my Nintendo Switch Preorder was at a store that is not participating in the midnight release events.

Can I transfer it to a store that will have midnight pickup March 3, or will I have to tell my friends who want to play together that Best Buy won't let me join in until after 10 a.m.?

Re: Transfer preorder to store with midnight release

Hello garcarson,

Thanks for pre-ordering the Nintendo Switch from Best Buy. I'm pretty excited about this console release, and I'm sure you are too. I hope you're able to get playing just as soon as you would like.

In order for us to modify store pickup locations, the product in question must be available to order at the time you are putting in your request. This being the case, I'm afraid we can't modify your order at this time. I am very sorry for any disappointment this may cause you or your friends. Please watch our product listing in case it becomes available again before the release.

Sincerely,

Mike|Senior Social Media Specialist | Best Buy® Corporate

Re: Transfer preorder to store with midnight release

The store that "did not have any available" told me to wait in line for day 1 stock at midnight. Bit dicey though as they were almost all claimed by the time I got there 3 hours early.

Too bad Best Buy would not work with transferring my preorder to one of those devices. It worked out but it was very inconvenient to have to fund the full cost twice, wait a significant amount of time for the refund and physically wait 3 hours in the cold getting the same treatment as the folks who didn't preorder just after the announcement livestream like I did.
