Trading in limited edition or special edition versions of games?

Looking to trade in my copies of The Conduit and Conduit 2 at my lcoal Best Buy. Looking online both are in the system as tradeable. However I have the following versions.

The Conduit: Special Edition

Conduit 2: Limited Edition

The difference is that these were store specific versions, GameStop originally I think, and they came with a small art book in the case. The games are the same as other versions out there and evne were sold originally for the same price.

Would Best Buy accept these if these specific versions aren't in their systems? Anyone have any experiece in situations like this?

Re: Trading in limited edition or special edition versions of games?

Hey NeoStar9x,

Thanks so much for posting your question about the Trade in program. That is a really good thing to point out! If you want to trade in a special/limited/collector's edition of the game, you would receive the same value that's listed for the standard edition because the trade in is just for the game. A lot of times those editions will come with free DLC, memorabilia or posters, which can't be traded in for any value. It's just the game itself.

The store should still accept those versions. I hope that helps answer your questions and let me know if you have any other questions.

Warm regards,

To add you can even keep the art book or anything else that comes with the special edition (unless it is a disc that has bonus content, vids or anything else in which case it will tell you how many discs there should be on the trade in page).

I had bought the BLOPS prestige edition that had the steelbook case. I decided to trade that game in disc only because once black ops drops in price I plan to rebuy it and use the steelbook case.

99% of the time the LE trades in for the same amount as the regular edition (with a few exceptions like Oblivion 5 year) and hence can be traded in disc only.

Thanks for the responses. I thought I'd try this evening at the store, before seeing this post, and things worked out well. Good bit of information to know for the future. Thanks.
