Re: Was sent an empty game case

The same thing happened with me, with the same game (Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright).
A friend bought this game for me, sealed, and it was empty.
The bigger problem is that we live in Brazil, and he only travels to the US once a month.

Re: Was sent an empty game case

Hi Barmont –

Welcome to our forums and thanks for posting. It’s concerning to hear there wasn’t a disc inside your game, so I’ll be happy to advise you on your options.

In the event an order that’s missing some or all of the items that should be included the best option is to usually bring it to one of our stores so we can arrange for a replacement. Alternatively we also have the option to do a return via mail. That said, if you’re outside of the US this makes things difficult, as return shipments must originate from a US address, and we do not accept international shipments.

Given the circumstances I know this may not be an option since your friend only travels to the US once a month, but my recommendation is if the purchase is still within its Return and Exchange Period to ship it to someone you know in the US as soon as possible so they can bring it to a store for assistance.

Re: Was sent an empty game case

Hi,

I also purchased Fire Emblem:  Conquest during a sale earlier this year or late last year.  I recently gave it to my cousin and he said it was empty when he purchased it.  I live in Hawaii and he lives in Oklahoma.  How would I go about resolving this issue.

Thank you

Re: Was sent an empty game case

As it seems to be an usual problem with this game, there's no way for me to send the game case within the Return and Exchange Period and I can't prove the game case was empty when I bought, I'll just accept that money was lost and refrain to buying games at BestBuy on the future.
This never happened to me before. It's unacceptable.

I think you should contact Nintendo directly or even the publisher.

Re: Was sent an empty game case

BestBuy should take the responsibility and contact Nintendo.
It was not my fault. I just wanted the game. So why do I have to find a way to solve this problem by myself?

Re: Was sent an empty game case

Well you did say Best Buy couldn't do anything. Also its not like they know if games are empty or not if they get it sealed from the manufacturer. Also who says you aren't lying? It just makes more sense since its a Nintendo/Publisher product and will actually know if there were patterns of missing games from packaging. Best Buy just sells what they receive. Since Best Buy can't help you, what else can you do?

Re: Was sent an empty game case

That exactly what I said above. As I can't prove that I'm telling the truth and it seems there's nothing BestBuy can do, I'll just buy games in another store in the future.
They just sell what they receive, but the responsibility is not mine. I'm the one who lost money. It's easy for a store to just put the blame and the manufacturer and say there nothing they can do, and this way they can keep selling empty game cases for years to come.

Re: Was sent an empty game case

You're right. Best Buy should contact the manufacturer. Best Buy doesn't get a pass on this.Just saying since they didn't contact Nintendo, contacting them yourself would be the next step. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't shop at Best Buy anymore because of it. I still want my game though, so I would still try and get it. Just wanted to help just in case you didn't know that you can contact Nintendo or whoever published that game.

Thanks for trying to help. Maybe I'll try to contact Nintendo or the publisher.
