Question regarding the Tritton AXPro Accidental Warranty Coverage.

I recently bought The Tritton AX Pro from BestBuy and bought the Warranty with accidental coverage. The cord in which is connected to the Xbox Controller to the Volume Control ("CONVENIENT IN-LINE CONTROLS") has broke to the point where it will create a thumping noise as if I had been muting and un-muting my headset.  Now if I mute my headset through an XBOX, PS3 or PC the headset will transfer the volume that I would hear to the other people.  If I brought it in, what would be covered? Would I get just a couple new cords, or the entire new headset?

Thank you for taking your time to read this!

Re: Question regarding the Tritton AXPro Accidental Warranty Coverage.

Headsets dont come with an accidental protection plan, they only come with a replacement plan. Depending on how the cord broke they will either just replace them or do nothing.

As a former employee of Best Buy my opinions are my opinions, and not those of Best Buy.

Re: Question regarding the Tritton AXPro Accidental Warranty Coverage.

I have the exact same headset model TRI-AX720. I bought it with the 2 year warranty plan, heck I even asked the sales rep if the ADH warranty was possible on headsets, which she nicely told me that it was not available on them. My problem is unexplainable and I am still looking for a solution to why the headset is malfunctioning. I have tried getting in touch with both the official manufacturers of the headset as well as BestBuy over email as I currently have no active phone, and the number that I have on my profile is no longer tied to a working phone and am unable to physically call this problem in. My problem is that the microphone records fine offline whether on the PC or the Xbox, however, when I go to Voice Chat over Xbox Live people always say I sound garbled and not understandable, regardless of the mics distance from myself or location. I also can barely even hear anyone over Xbox Live anymore through the headset, despite being able to hear the in game sound effects, music, etc, perfectly fine. I still use this headset when I want to watch a movie that supports Dolby Pro Logic II as the headset emulates it, and that also works fine. I have no idea what the exact problem is, but I can assure you that I have not modified the headset or messed with it in any way shape or manner, haven't even ordered any parts for it in an effort to fix it, as I feel I should be able to get this fixed utilizing the warranty I paid for near March of last year. I have no idea why it randomly stopped working either. The headset was working fine in June of last year and just all of a sudden stopped working, and started giving me problems, primarily when voice chatting. I am reluctant to take my headset into the store physicaly because when my friend did that they basically told him that despite his having a mere short in the cord, that it wasn't covered. I don't even know what exactly the problem is, I seriously wish I could figure out why it works seems to work fine offline, but has problems when used online, regardless of whether it's Xbox Live, Yahoo Messenger, MSN, or even Skype..

Re: Question regarding the Tritton AXPro Accidental Warranty Coverage.

Hi JonBehrs2014,

Thanks for posting your situation with your Tritton AX720 headset. Sorry for the delay in response.

It definitely sounds like something is wrong with your mic. In my experience, sometimes they are working one second, and the next they're not. Pretty frustrating! If you can still listen through it just fine, then it's probably the connection of the mic itself. I tried pulling up any purchase information for the product or any warranty with the email listed in your forum profile, but I was not able to find anything.

According to Tritton's website, specifically for their products, they encourage customers to work directly with them before having them exchanged at the retailer. I see their listed email address is techsupport@madcatz.com.   Is this the one that you contacted?

Let me know updates on the situation. Thanks!

Re: Question regarding the Tritton AXPro Accidental Warranty Coverage.

Thankfully my situation was resolved. I was able to take it into my local Best Buy and exchange my headset for a replacement. I was very lucky as it showed in their computer that they had no AX 720s left in stock, but I managed to find one on the shelf buried behind other headsets. I took it up the the register and was able to get it exchanged, I am being very cautious with how well I take care of the new one, and plan to upgrade it to a better one in the future, which Best Buy said was definitely possible. My friend actually got his AX Pro replaced with the Gears of War Limited Edition Headset, much to my envy. The Gears headset is far better then the AX 720, and perhaps in the future I'll aim for either that headset or one higher then it, I am very thankful that I was able to get it exchanged, especially since I had to do this on the night before Christmas.
