Pre-Ordering and shipping

There's a few sites that will ship pre order games a few days sooner so it will arrive on the street date, does best buy do this or do they wait until the street date and then ship?

Re: Pre-Ordering and shipping

Hello Connors,

Welcome to the forum!

We do have release day shipping for new games when you select express shipping on BestBuy.com. They usually ship the day before to make sure you get it.

EDIT- I looked into this a little further and our official policy is that we should ship the same day of release. The best option for online orders is to select in store pickup to guarantee getting a copy on the release day.

Re: Pre-Ordering and shipping

Okay, thanks for the answers.

Going to go ahead and use the free slow shipping, waiting doesn't bother me enough to spend money.

Not to be a jerk, but you guys are WAY behind Amazon on this one.  I would rather buy from you, but after the MW3 Hardened experience, I don't know that I will any more.  My copy that "shipped" on Novemeber 4th still hasn't been given to UPS, even though I elected for the express/expedited shipping to have it on release day.

Re: Pre-Ordering and shipping

I pre-ordered Star Wars: The Old Republic in July. The release day is 12/20/11, so will I be able to get early access when everyone else does for pre-ordering?

Re: Pre-Ordering and shipping

I pre-ordered Rayman Origins. On the release date, they placed it on back-order even though the store nearest my house had 8 copies on the shelf and the second closest had 5. The lady at best buys 866 number said pre-order does not mean you are guarantied the game at release, but that your will get the game sometime in the future. In my case it said one to two weeks to ship. The lady on the phone said it could take over 30 days and they would hold my order open. Next time I will buy it at Game Stop. Good luck.

Re: Pre-Ordering and shipping

Don't hold your breath getting a pre order. I pre ordered the Jimmie Johnson game over a month ago for a nov. 1 release date. on the release day the web site went to the game being back ordered. Just today get an email that it is back ordered. Best buy rep told me the manufacture is why, BUT manufacturer told me they see no reason why best buy is back ordered and since the manufacturer went out of their way to correct things for me I believe them over best buy. The only reason I have not canceled the order is because I don't want to be stuck with an online only giftcard

Re: Pre-Ordering and shipping

@sheilamarie06 - I'm sorry for the delayed response on your question but the Star Wars: The Old Republic early access is open to everyone who preorders (you need to register your pre-order code on their website) but when you actually get that access to the game is determined by the date and order in which you redeemed your pre-order code, as well as where you live and your Internet service (per the SWTOR pre-order FAQs)

@Pudgyboy2 - You mentioned calling an 866 number... that is actually the beginning of our Best Buy Canada Customer Service phone number and this forum actually only provides Best Buy US Customer Service.  However, if the store nearest you had some of the game in stock and your pre-order ended up being on backorder, I would recommend cancelling that order and buying the game in-store.

@Mearsfan - I tried to locate your order using the email address you have registered on the forums here but I wasn't seeing it.  If you want to send me a private message with your order number, I would be happy to take a look at it.  Also, cancelling a BestBuy.com order will put the funds back on the form of payment that was initially used so I'm not how you would get an online only gift card unless you used a digital coupon to begin with.

Re: Pre-Ordering and shipping

Let's get back to this since this is an important issue.  Summary - if you preorder from Best Buy and expect to get your game delivered on release day you are a fool.  However for the 99% of shoopers who do not read this forum it is really a "shame on best buy" situation.  Proof:  Go on bestbuy.com and attempt to preoder a game even now.  Mass Effect 3 is a good example.

IT STILL SAYS "CHOOSE EXPRESS SHIPPING FOR RELEASE DAY DELIVERY" when you select the shipping option.  So it's a month after this whole debate in this thread and basically this fraud is still ongoing.
