Why doesn't Best Buy hire competent coders to prevent scammers from ripping off the company and making us honest customers pay for it?

People on sites like slickdeals, fatwallet, and cheapassgamer are talking about the "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" Best Buy glitch where the third game automatically rings up free, even if it is WAY more expensive than the other 2 games.  Apparently, this has been going on for years - people bring up 2 cheapest games that qualify ($29.99 each), and get say a Skyrim Collector's Edition for free ($149.99).

Also, apparently people have been using the Best Buy deal of the day game, Kinect Disneyland Adventures, on sale for $19.99, to get much more expensive games for free, when it shouldn't even qualify in the deal (games must be minimum $29.99 to qualify for Buy 2 Get 1 Free). 

Also, people order the three games for in store pick up, send the free game to a different store, and only pick up the free game!

Finally, people buy the 3 games, then return the 2 paid for games and keep the free game!

People are also ordering the Nintendo 3DS system to get the free $50 giftcard and then adding 2 games and getting one of the games free as well.

"Just got back from Best Buy picking up my order. Kinect Disneyland Adventures ($19.99), Skyrim CE PS3 ($149.99) and Skyrim CE 360 ($149.99 - free game) for $185 with tax. Great glitch and typical of stupid Best Buy"

"Picked my order up and there were at least 10 other copies of Disneyland Adventures ($19.99) there waiting to be picked up in bundles. They had the game orders in stacks of three with rubberbands around them so they are definitely selling a lot of these with the buy 2 get 1 free deal. Everyone one of the 3 game stacks had Disneyland Adventures in it."

"Just snagged Xbox Skyrim CE, PS3 Skyrim CE and Disneyland for $181 after tax. Friend is buying PS3 version for $125 and Disneyland went back to BBY traded in for $24. So got Skyrim CE for $32

I would be surprised if the return worked, because the value of the free item is usually deducted from the return total and when they find out what happened, well take a look at the scam now They will figure it out, trust me and the return probably denied.

Hey snoocherboo,

I know this is a delayed reply but I wanted to let you know that I appreciate you sharing this with us.  Although I can't confirm that any of those order actually fulfilled as, per our BestBuy.com Conditions of Use, we "reserve the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions including after an order has been submitted..." but I still I wish I could have caught this while it was going on to funnel it up and it get it corrected.  Nevertheless, I will definitely be including it in my weekly report for the Gaming Team here at Best Buy Corporate.  I share your concerns about these possible exploits and we will be able to use your feedback to build more robust offers in the future.  Thanks againf or taking the time to post this here.

Well as much as BestBuy rips off their customers I would have gladly taken part in this had I known it was going on (may have to see if it has been fixed yet).  You reap what you sow BestBuy.
