So I pre ordered the Mass Effect 3 collectors edition on 1/11/12 in store and I went to pick it up today and they told me they didn't recieve enough copies, they also said this was happening at a bunch of different Best Buy's so I was wondering if they are just feeding me things because I assume that Bioware sent out all their copies, pre ordering should ensure you get the game on release date (this has always been the case for me), I was 2 days to late to pre order at gamestop and this I assumed was the next best thing, maybe I assumed wrong. Please tell me if this has happened anywhere else or are they really just feeding me false information to get me from causing a ruckus.

I'm a fan of the Mass Effect series. About a month ago, I heard the third game was going to be released. Apparently, the collector's editions were sold about about 3 months ago. 

I was hoping I'd be able to buy a copy of the collector's edition for the PC, but even Best Buy doesn't have it available for preorder. 

Does anyone know where or how to get the collector's edition as well as the bonus pre-order stuff?

You must have been looking at the 360 preorders of the collectors edition, because the PS3 and PC pre-orders for the collectors where still available up until a month ago.

Either way your best luck is trying to get one as soon as your local bby or other retailer opens and seeeing if they ordered extras to sell for non-preorderes.

Or trying to preorder from the infamous target or walmart which i heared still have some(Note their website neverupdate and could be sold out even if they have it listed)

My local store has 2 copies of PC CE although the site says it isn't available. I also suggest to check local stores. You might get lucky.

I just received a call from my local Best Buy in New Hope Commons in Durham, NC.  They told me that they accidentally sold my pre-ordered copy of the Collector's Edition of Mass Effect 3 for the Xbox 360.  

I am very upset.  This CE is sold out everywhere and I don't see how I will be able to get it aside from buying it on the secondary market for a much greater amount.  I originally had my CE copy pre-ordered through Toys R Us because it was the only retailer that had it available at the time.  Then I received word that Best Buy was taking preorders for the game again, so I cancelled my Toys R Us order and placed one with Best Buy.  Apparently my faith in BB's ability to deliver was unfounded.  

I have a solution to this problem in mind and would like to work with someone on it.

This same exact situation happened to me, what is the point of preordering a product if they are not going to set it aside. I was told they sold collector's editions to people that didn't preorder and did not set aside copies for preorder customers. Very unprofessional.

So it is happening at multiple locations, I overheard they only received 4 copies and those were given to people who pre ordered, I just hope they are actually gonna get more shipped to them, first pre order through here is already an extreme disappointment , but I'm left waiting for something that isn't even promised to me anymore I suppose.

Sorry to hear that.  Apparently it's going around.  

My store claimed they have no system that shows them when a "pick up at the store" item arrives.  That's a terrible excuse.  I design systems for a living and would be in hot water if I deployed one as poor as that.  

It's very frustrating because they have no way of getting any more in for us.  With the prices these are going for on ebay, we were royaly screwed. 

I've heard accounts of employees buying up copies of the CE version to sell online.  Not cool.
