I still haven't gotten the code either. I haven't gotten the game yet, but thats fine, I know what to expect with free shipping. Its the fact that the code hasn't been e-mailed to me yet that has me worried.

Same thing as everone else. I went BACK to the store today to see what was going on, and the associate basically told me I was wrong and misinformed about the "promotion", like I was making it all up. Even after pulling up postings from THIS FORUM from BEST BUY mods stating that Best Buy was included in this promotion, a TWEET from Best Buy talking about the promo, and the press release FROM Nintendo, he told me there was nothing he could do because he knew nothing about it. Told me if I was unhappy with my purchase I could bring it back. Really? That's BS.
I want what was promised to me, like everyone else.

@Yushua: I have been talking to people on the GameFaqs forums. One guy said the code was printed on his receipt and he he confirmed it was legit since he downloaded the game. Another guy said he got an email with the code right after he picked up his pre-ordered copy in the store.
I really think it all has to do with how the cashier processed it. My receipt looks like a return (so my original $5 was credited back), then the game was rang up normally.

I found this posted on Nintendo's tech forums...
I called Best Buy and the rep explained everything. Take a good look at your purchase receipt. Notice at the top it says that you did an Exchange, not a preorder pickup. Best Buy technically does not have a preorder redemtion system so they just return your $5 down payment and then apply it to your purchase. Now what has to happen is that Best Buy's corp has to receive the transaction from the store and confirm that this pickup wasn't just a simple return. The rep told me that it will take 3 to 5 week days to clear their system before the email is sent out with the code. In the meantime, the rep told me to go into the spam box and make sure that it is not being flagged. So, it is just a matter of patience in the end. Hope this helps.
The actual discussion can be found here: http://techforums.nintendo.com/message/62623
but really.....to find some sort of sensible "explanation/answer" on somewhere other than Best Buy forums when they in fact should be the ones to explain it to us...
Come on...Where is the communication?
