Re: Got charged $20 extra for something that is supposed to be free

I'm wondering how it was determined that the value of that was $20 when it says multiple times throughout the page that it is "free". Charging for that is just begging to fight credit card chargebacks since it's going straight against all details of the advertisements.

"Included Free

They could say that it is free in the advertising and description, however I believe they would need to also list its value somewhere (like with an * notating "a 20$ value" or something)

And listing its "value" is something they never did.

Re: Got charged $20 extra for something that is supposed to be free

The bottom of the email with the beta code states "Limit one (1) Promo Code per transaction, per account. Cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. Promo Code has no cash value, except as required by law. Cannot be combined with any other offer or discount. Promo Code cannot be copied, sold, or otherwise transferred. Void where prohibited. Terms and conditions are subject to change. All rights reserved. For more information on the BETA vist: https://www.destinythegame.com/beta" so what exact law is in place, Bestbuy, which is forcing you to charge customers for cancelling even though it says no cash value?

Re: Got charged $20 extra for something that is supposed to be free

Hi Everyone –

This situation is something that our support teams were made aware of late last week, and we’ve now received an update from them. Firstly the $20 value attributed to the Beta Code in canceled orders was an error on our end that affected a very small number of those who pre-ordered and canceled. This issue has since been resolved. Orders affected by this issue have been identified and customers who received the $20 charge will be refunded. Keep an eye on your email inbox for further updates.

Thank you for resolving this. I received the charge back notification this morning. In the future, a simple "we're looking into it" would have been much more helpful and prevented frustrations from escalating rather than the "it's your fault, deal with it" approach you took from the onset.

Hi Michael,

This happened to me, but I have not received credit on my statement yet... can you please look into it!

All the best.

Re: Got charged $20 extra for something that is supposed to be free

Hello,

I decided to cancel my preorder of Destiny 2 and also was charged this morning 19.99 to my bank card, which in turn caused an overdraft which will be an additional $35 charge.  So now I am out $54.99 for a game I decided not to pre-order?  This is horrible practice and I will call customer support when they open at 7AM CST to discuss but wanted the forum to be aware of what is going on.

I did not intentionally buy this game just to get the "early beta" as I would prefer to wait for the open beta when the bugs get worked out so this is a poor business practice on Best buy's end and I believe I will no longer EVER purchase another game or anything else for that matter with Best Buy.

Sad.

Hi wickedlip –

Welcome to our forums and thanks for bringing this to our attention. I’m sorry to hear that you too were affected by this error on our end, and I apologize for the inconvenience and additional cost this has caused.

That said, using the information you registered with our forums I was able to review your account and logs from your call into our support team earlier this morning. I’m happy to see our agent was already able to address this situation for you, however if you have any questions or other concerns please feel free to reach out to us on our forums again.

Best Wishes,

Yes thanks for reaching out so quickly. Customer support really came through on this and I appreciate all of your help! I am so glad this was not too much of a problem to get resolved. Thanks again!!!
