FAQ: BF3 SPECACT DLC Codes

Hi all,

The past few days I've noticed a variety of issues regarding the Best Buy pre-order bonus SPECACT DLC, and have responded to a handful of people to try to help out. However, to make work easier on myself, I wanted to set this up sort of as a FAQ to let people look at it, see whats up, and possibly find the steps necessary to correct a problem they might have been having. As a fellow Best Buy employee and more importantly, a fellow GAMER, it saddens me to see so many people not get ther DLC. However, hopefully these tips will get you those nifty SPECACT unis in no time. See you on the Battlefield...hope you dont get me on the other team! :smileyhappy:

Note: This offer is only for people who PRE-ORDERED the game through Best Buy. If you didn't pre-order, sorry!

1.) Where can I find my SPECACT Redeem Code?
- The code is printed out in two locations on your reciept, and will also be sent via e-mail, assuming you provided a valid e-mail address at the register. On the reciept, it can be found under the item "DIG-<console>-BATTLEFIELD 3 SPECACT, as well as lower on the reciept, below the total and your Reward Zone point balance.

2.) I definitely checked, and definitely don't see it.

- Fair enough, if you don't see it, it is likely you did not get the proper DLC SKU added to your purchase by accident. Check your reciept for the item I mentioned earlier (DIG-<console>-BATTLEFIELD 3 SPECACT), which should be priced at $0.00. If you DO NOT have this item (SKU should start with the digits 382) on your reciept,  then it will not appear on your reciept and you will not get an e-mail with the code.

3.) Ok, so what can I do to GET the code?
- The ABSOLUTE BEST way to do it if you can, is to return to your Best Buy store with the reciept. Show either a customer service rep, or a gaming associate your reciept, andexplain to them that you pre-ordered the game, and was supposed to have an additional SKU added which would allow you to get the bonus pre-order content, but whoever rang you out  failed to add it. If who you are speaking to is familiar with the situation, theyll be able to help you out.

-If theyre still confused, explain to them that you can actually provide them with the SKU in question, and ask if they can make a new transaction with it on it. Once that SKU gets rung out, then you would have the code on the reciept, and get it e-mailed to you. The store has a few options as to how they can do this, either a return/exchange, or they can add the SKU itself and manually reduce the price to 0.01 or 0.00. This will be up to them on how they do it.
Here are the SKUs:
XBOX 360: 3823156

PS3: 3823165

PC: 3823183

-If whoever you are speaking to says this is not necessary, and you will still get the e-mail, ask for a manager or another associate (preferrably one in gaming). Although they may be correct in saying you get it via e-mail, remember you do NOT get it if that SKU has not been rung out.

4.) What if I cant go to the store?
-Although going to the store is the best method, if you absolutely can't, you could try calling the store, and explaining them the same situation. You could then ask if they could do a sale over the phone, the same way you would in store, with the SKUs listed above. However, I can't guarantee they can do this as an over-the-phone sale, but you could try. If they can do it, and ring out the SKU and capture the e-mail, youd then get the e-mail, or could have the employee you are speaking to read it out for you.

5.) Why am I getting DOG TAGS and not SPECACT?
- This was an error on EA's part (at least I think it was EA and not Microsoft or Sony). Ultimately, Best Buy got codes for the wrong item (Amazon's Pre-Order Bonus). If you got the code and Dog Tags, you get to keep them! You should be getting an e-mail soon from Best Buy (assuming you have a valid e-mail address) containing a new code for the SPECACT content as well. Ultimately, you win out, as you get 2 bonuses instead of 1!

I think that about covers it. If there is something I am missing, or if anyone else has any other questions, you could post and Ill get to them if I have time, or maybe someone else can. Best of luck!

-A

Re: FAQ: BF3 SPECACT DLC Codes

An update to the original:

7.) Another suggestion if you can't go to the store.

- Try calling 1-888-BESTBUY and explaining the situation there. Apparently several people have done this and have been able to get a code.

8.) The PC SKU doesn't work?
- I read somewhere that there may be another SKU for it that works: 3994045

Re: FAQ: BF3 SPECACT DLC Codes

Another update regarding PMing the issue, courtesy of Mariel-BBY!

- If you cannot make it to the store, or calling the store is not an option, send a message to Gaming-BBY with the following:

Message Subject: Game Title

Message Body:

Proof of purchase (Customer Service PIN from in-store receipt or BestBuy.com order #)

Email address (the one at which you’ve been watching for the code)

if you do this, the Best Buy community team will investigate why you may not have received your code or why the one you received did not work and get back to you as quickly as possible. Please note that any unsolicited private messages sent to Moderators for this issue will be ignored in an effort to assist everyone promptly and in the proper order.

Now if everyone who had the problems would simply awhurley11's informative posts, there would not be countless numbers of people complaining about what to do. When in doubt people, READ the forums first.

Best advice to you is 1) Stop typing in all captials, that is perceived as shouting, lower case letters need love too. 2) Learn how to form a sentence and use puncuation, which can be your best friend when trying to make a point. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out when they click on the gaming forum seeing a thread already devoted to the problem with BF3 codes doesn't mean to go start a second thread or a third thread just because they think by doing so they will get a faster answer than if they spent time reading the forums. AWHurley11 posted a new thread to HELP people and that thread is entitled "FAQ" so people should automatically see that and know that questions and answers will be posed there. But the fact is people don't know how to read a thread wihtout posting the same issue over and over, and that is why there 30+ pages of posts of everyone basically posting the same thing.

Typing in captial letters IS considered a form of shouting so consider that the fun fact for Friday. You should care about puncuation, spelling, etc. It's quite important when trying to make a point.
