Re: Empire:Total War preorder question

I am very disappointed in Best-Buy's pre-order policy.  I pre-ordered Empire: Total War based upon their advertisement that my order would be satisfied before customers off the street.  On Wednesday, March 4, the game was released.  Now on Friday, I get an email that my "pre-order" is on back order, which may take three weeks to fulfill. At lunch, a guy in my office goes to our local Best Buy and picks up a copy off the shelf--no pre-order!  Explain to me why Best Buy is giving them out at the store when they have pre-orders that have not been fulfilled? I wasted fifteen minutes pre-ordering, and another thirty minutes on hold trying to cancel my "back order".  The BestBuy pre-order has been worse than worthless.

Re: Empire:Total War preorder question

I pre-ordered for the convenience of getting the game within the first week of release. I can understand some delay but 3 weeks is unacceptable when I can buy it in the store, at another store or download it from Steam, immediately. The hassle of cancelling my order only adds to the frustration & inconvenience. I will never pre-order anything from BestBuy again! Now I remember why I spend as little money as possible at BB. Any response BB?

Re: Empire:Total War preorder question

Yea i called in and waited for a very long time to finally talk to a woman i could hardly hear. I got my order cancelled and i got a copy held in a store near me.. hmm its kind of strange how that stores shelves are full yet i cannot get my pre-ordered copy that i ordered two months ago.

as far as im concerned best buy will not get any more of my service or any of my friends service unless i get a good explaination for this. I am very angry.

Re: Empire:Total War preorder question

Made an account just to share my story with this. I preordered as well, assuming Best Buy has pragmatic business practices, as such assumed they would appropriate sufficient copies of the game for preorders. However, they decided stocking their stores to the brim was a better idea. I cancelled my order as well, only to find it takes them quite a good amount of time to re-credit the gift cards I purchased it with. Another note, I did attempt to have them change my order to an in-store pickup, as every store seemed to have it in stock (as far as their website showed). The person I corresponded with via their email system informed me they didn't have the game in stock in the particular store, however. I went to this store, to find over 15 copies sitting on a shelf. This is on Friday they told me it was not in stock, mind you, not the day of launch. All of this being said, I have no problem with it taking time for the gift cards to be re-credited, I have no problem with their customer support not having appropriate information concerning the in-store stock, the only problem I have is the cause of this debacle. The fact that Best Buy took people's money for pre-orders and decided the best idea would be to backorder for them rather than reserve copies of their total stock so they could overstock their stores really bothers me. They took a gamble, assuming they MIGHT make more money getting people in the stores to buy it by overstocking the game there, while sacrificing customer service to people whose money they have already taken. They must not have realized what people expect when they pre-order an item before release, and how pissed off they get when those expectations are not met. That said, I find our expectations completely appropriate as they have been realized time and time again from OTHER RETAILERS, online or otherwise.

Re: Empire:Total War preorder question

Yea I feel ya everytime I call best buy about anything I get please hold from 3 different people then half the time they hang up. Im close to giving up on Best Buy also there soon getting rid of most of there animes. Then every time I have a question it takes so long on the phone to get hung up on and it even takes longer on these forums.
