i been tring to play civilization 5 on my new laptop my mother got me on christmas but the only thing that pops up is a msg saying the civ 5 has stopped working. i tried to see if it worked on a different setting i used the windows 8 setting and the direct x11 setting too. so i checked my event veiwer to see what the problem was a this is what i saw.

does anyone know what the problem is because i would like to finish a game without it crashing.

What kind of computer are you running this game on?

Please list Manufacturer (HP, DELL, TOSHIBA) and Model Number ( Pavilion, Dimension, Satellite etc)

FYI - Windows 8 is known for having some issues with gaming compatibility for certain games.

Although not all games may be affected, some are.

well i know it is an hp envy m6. is that it or do you need more

also would i be better off get my laptop redone with windows 7 so that i can have it for gaming or just leave windows 8 on it and hope that it someday supports gaming because that is why my mom got me the laptop for christmas, the guy/women at best buy said that it is good for gaming.

pc-game2020, thanks for purchasing an HP Envy.  Sorry to hear about the challenges you are having playing your game.  A quick glance of the minimum and recommended system requirements shows that the unit does meet them. Hmmm, I just got my new gaming computer.  I have not tried Civ5 on it yet.

And thanks for liking Civilizaion.  the series is one of my personal all time favorites.
