Can games be traded in cart/disc only in store and online?

I've heard conflicting reports about the Best Buy game trade-in program only being allowed to accept complete copies of games. If this is true, then why is it that on the Best Buy trade-in website there is only a drop down menu to select whether a game is playable or not and nothing to denote whether or not it has it's original case/artwork/manual?

The same applies in store, where the employees do not have to check off that the game is complete or not.

I'm just curious about this policy, as there are some games that do NOT come with a case in the traditional sense(certain Nintendo DS titles have come cart only in a cardboard box with an extra item such as a car/toy) and as such would be disqualified from this program if this policy is indeed true.

Re: Can games be traded in cart/disc only in store and online?

Hi CheapestGamer,

Thanks so much for your post and you bring up a great question about the trade in program!

You do not need any artwork/manuals/etc when you bring your games to the store, or when you trade them in online. The only thing you need is the actual game - like you said, the site will ask if it's playable and that's it.

If you are ever at the store and they tell you they cannot except a game without the artwork or manual, please refer them to their resources or ask for a manager.

I hope that helps answer your questions and thank you again for posting.

Best regards,
