Best Buy did me wrong, worst experience ever.

I ordered Duke Nukem Forever about a week ago and the online division just canceled it now, but there is more. I purchased with Paypal, when Best Buy returns the money they put it back in Paypal, but they dont restore it to my checking account where it was taken. They said I have to do that myself and it it will take me another 3 days to transfer it back. Right now it is 3 days before Christmas. I wanted this at my house for the holidays and now I will have to drive to the insane stores to find this before the holidays, i actually needed it a few days ago, but thought I would wait since this was going to be a good deal. I had to wait on the phone about 25 minutes to talk to someone that was very rude, she was indifferent to my concerns and said no one could help me. Its not good policy to cancel 3 days before Christmas, to promise a sale that you can fulfill, to take money for an order your don't intend to place ... This will likely be the last time I purchase anything via BestBuy, instead I plan to move all my orders and purchases for me and my family to Amazon and other area retailers like Walmart and Target. It wouldn't have been so bad if they just said sold out when they had none, but to cancel right before the holidays was the kicker. I plan to rant about this here, on dealnews, slickdeals, Google+, Facebook, and Twitter... I also plan to file a complaint wherever I find addresses including messaging the consumer reports on Philadelphia news. I realize that sometimes you don't have enough in stock to fullfil an order, but you should do sold out or cancel the order sooner. I hear I am not the only one this is happening to, but I hope to be the most vocal.

Re: Best Buy did me wrong, worst experience ever.

To be honest, they did you a favor. That game was TERRIBLE!

On a serious note, that really sucks they cancelled your order. However, usually it takes more than a week for them to do so. I would wait around and see if a Community Connector gets in touch with ou about this. Can take 3 - 5 business days.

That game was terrible though, maybe try something else :smileywink:
My comments and opinions are exactly that, my own. Although I do work for the Geek Squad, I am in no way speaking for, or representing Best Buy as a company.

I wanted it for nostalgic reasons. I read the reviews etc, I actually like the really bad games like the one's that Burger King released etc...

Re: Best Buy did me wrong, worst experience ever.

In regards to how you were refunded, Best Buy did, and said, exactly what they were supposed to do. How would they put money directly into your checking account when they have no information for your account? You paid with PayPal (who holds your checking acct info) and all refunds go to your PayPal account. It's been like that for as long as I can remember. If it's been handled differently by someone else before, I've never heard of it.

I feel as though they should never take the money out if they don't have the item in stock or have access to get the item, especially for services like PayPal. I understand the rationale of them not having access to my checking account, but just returning the money in this manor doesn't address the problem. They should not take out money for orders they have no means of fulfilling. Its like me giving them a free loan of my money and getting nothing in return, but an oops our bad message.

Re: Best Buy did me wrong, worst experience ever.

Just wanted to follow-up that I have had been contacted via Bestbuy. I am still sad about the issues and initial reaction to my order, but appreciative with the emailed response to my concern by corporate. I have reflected my appreciation accordingly where needed. Bestbuy helped solve my concern about the 5 dollars transferred to Paypal for those curious.

Re: Best Buy did me wrong, worst experience ever.

I would say if they haven't responded to you that is poor customer service. I still stand by my feeling that they should be required to provide an order they suggest they are going to fill or never take a charge on your account. The 5 dollars I received was the bare minimum, they didn't have to do it, but it wasn't amazing. It was enough to keep me shopping there, sorta see below. The problem is that 5$ is still not going to get me the game I wanted, the deal I thought I locked in. It also doesn't cover the original price of the game that they list even in their outlet store. I do understand from a business perspective it was the best they could do. That said I would have much rather have them had let me have another similar game of my choice mailed to me before the holiday, I could have taken the PC version of Duke Nukem which was instock when I called, but the person on the phone said that is simply not going to happen either. I will try to get to the BM store and see if I can find a used or clearance game for the 5 bucks...
