Yesterday I saw on BestBuy.com that a store about an hour away had stock for the Zelda edition of the Nintendo 3DS. The weekly ad promoted a $20 gift card with the purchase of a 3DS console. I believed that the Zelda edition was not pictured in the ad because it would be foolish to picture it while so few stores have stock and while the item is not available for shipping. However, the advertisement did not state that special editions or bundles would be excluded from the promotion. I thought that the purchase would be a good value after factoring in the $20 gift card and I had some time in the afternoon so I made the trip.
When I walked into the appropriate isle at the store, there was a flier in a plastic display in front of the shelf that stated the gift card offer but used the words "any 3DS console." The Zelda edition was on the shelf at the end of the isle. I took it to check out and the gift card did not come up so I asked about it, and took the clerk to look at the display in the isle; I was told that this item did not qualify because it was a special edition. I had already made a somewhat long trip so I still made the purchase and I did not want to make a scene but I feel that my purchase qualified, according to the wording of the advertisement.
I haven't opened the box because I'm considering returning the item to a local store. Is there a way I can get an adjustment?

Hi CapnFarrll,
Welcome to the forums!
I can see why you would be a little uneasy about your 3DS purchase given that you weren't able to get the advertised gift card offer along with it. I'm sorry for any frustration caused by that. You're right that this special edition bundle is in low supply as we are no longer stocking it and you are likely one of the lucky ones that found one left from our initial shipment. Good find!
As for the promotion, although there weren't terms listed to address your specific situation, bundles are sometimes handled little differently as the gift card was offered for the purchase of a 3DS system and you were getting more than just the system. Nevertheless, I would like to talk with you in more detail about the experience so I will be sending you a private message shortly to do so. You can watch for that in your forum inbox by clicking the envelope icon in the upper right-hand corner of the site (need to be logged-in for it to show up).
