In-store GCU and Online GCU different?

I got the GCU memebership 11/14/2016 in-store. I wasn't given a card of any sort as they said I could just give them my email or phone number when I purchase items. I do see it on my Best Buy app when I look at my account though; however, I see that it allows me to buy the "online activation." Is that $30 more I need to spend to be able to use the benefits online also? Also it doesn't add the discount when I add it to my cart...

Hi Altomus,

 

Welcome the forums and great question about the Gamers Club Unlocked program!  

 

You don't need to purchase an additional membership for online use.  Your in-store purchase will translate to online purchases as well.  I was able to locate your My Best Buy Member ID and your membership is active with an expiration date of 11/13/2018.  

 

You may need to log out of your account and log back in.  Also, try clearing your browsing history or a different Internet browser.  

 

Let me know if you don't see your benefits reflected after you've tried these troubleshooting techniques.

It seems that the game version I am trying to purchase is not available to receive the benefits for the GCU membership. I see now that the GCU only works for physical copies and not downloadable versions of a preorder. I was trying to get the Mass Effect: Andromeda SD version but it's only available in the downloadable version. Thanks for your help though!

Hi Altomus,

 

That's correct!  The GCU 20% off can only be applied to new physical copies of the game.  It doesn't apply to digital versions of the game.
